Women's Swim Team in Fifth Place After Day One of PSAC Championships

MORNING SESSION  |  EVENING SESSION

YORK—The Bloomsburg University women's swim team is in fifth place after day one of the 2013-14 PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) Championships being held at the Graham Aquatic Center. Bloomsburg has 61 points and trails fourth place Clarion by two points. West Chester leads the team race with 226 points.
 
EVENING
The evening session for the Huskies was highlighted by a fourth-place finish from freshman Brooke Gilson (Whitehall/Whitehall) in the 1000-free finishing with a time of 10:15.21, the second best mark in school history.
 
In the 200-IM Rachel Brooker (Stevens/Cocalico ) and Kaci McIlmoyle (Landenberg/Avon Grove) were 11th and 13th overall, respectively. Brooker posted a mark of 2:08.17, an NCAA "B" cut time and the second best time in school history, while McIlmoyle finished in 2:08.53.
 
In the 50-free Megan Gallagher set a school-record finishing ninth overall in an NCAA "B" cut time of 24.15 seconds. Ashley Dix (Schwenksville/Perkiomen Valley) finished 14th in 24.35.
 
In the 200-medley relay the Huskies finished seventh in 1:48.02 with the team of Alex Wheatley (Dresher/Upper Dublin), Jess McGarry (Philadelphia/St. Hubert), Brooker and Dix.
 
Action will resume on Friday at 10 a.m.
 
PRELIMS
In the 200-IM McIlmoyle finished 10th in 2:09.07, while Brooker was 11th in 2:09.22. Failing to advance to the evening session was Emilee Carr (Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh) who was 21st in a season-best 2:12.91 and Jess McGarry (Philadelphia/St. Hubert) who was 26th in 2:13.96. Erin Canaday was 32nd in 2:15.68.
 
In the 50-free Gallagher was 11th in 24.29 to reach the "B" final. Joining her was Dix who was 15th in 24.43. Failing to advance were Jenna Yohey (Berwick/Berwick), Wheatley, Ali Luzik (Halifax/Halifax), Julie Ann Mahle (Kingston/Holy Redeemer) and Jess McGarry (Philadelphia/St. Hubert).
