MATCH NOTES
BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg wrestling team will close out its regular season with a road trip to Binghamton University. Matchn time is set for 2 p.m.
Bloomsburg is 3-3 all-time with Bearcats, inclduing a 36-9 win last year at the Nelson Field House. In last year's match the Huskies scored bonus point wins in five matches along with getting a forfeit.
Sean Boylan (Seaville, NJ/St. Marks) posted a win by fall to start the match at 125, while
Nick Wilcox (Greene, NY/Greene Central) and
Kevin Hartnett (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) each had wins by technical fall.
The Huskies dropped a pair of matches the NWCA National Duals last Sunday. Despite two wins from nationally ranked
Richard Perry (Meriden, CT/Middletown) and
Justin Grant (Easton/Easton), the Huskies lost to #11 Oklahoma, 21-15, and to #18 Illinois, 23-8.
In the match with the Sooners the Huskies trailed 17-0 before winning four of the final five bouts and making it a 21-15 match. Against Illinois the Huskies won three of the final six bouts to lose 23-8.
Richard Perry (Meriden, CT/Middletown) was named both the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) and the co-PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) Wrestler of the Week for the period ending Feb. 16. He shares the PSAC honor with Ernest James of Edinboro. Perry won both his matches at the NWCA National Duals over the weekend to extend his winning streak to 26 straight matches. In the team's match against Oklahoma Perry avenged his only loss of the year by beating fifth-ranked Travis Rutt by fall in 4:17. Perry was behind 2-1 after one period, but was able to turn on Rutt and get the victory by pin. Perry followed that up with win in his second match of the day beating Jeffrey Koepke of Illinois by decision, 8-4.

Nick Wilcox (Greene, NY/Greene Central),
Bryce Busler (Mechanicsburg/Cumberland Valley),
Josh Veltre (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia),
Mike Dessino (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex),
Richard Perry (Meriden, CT/Middletown) and
Justin Grant (Easton/Easton), are ranked nationally in their respective weight classes. Four of the six are ranked by Amateur Wrestling News (AWN).
Bloomsburg is ranked 28th in the Wrestling Report.Com poll this week.
