MATCH NOTES

BLOOMSBURG--The 25th-ranked Bloomsburg University wrestling team will host George Mason on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the final home match of the year for the Huskies.

Before the match the Huskies will honor the 14 members of their senior class: Sean Boylan (Seaville, NJ/St. Marks) ,Craig Barker (Lecanto, FL/Citrus) , Nick Wilcox (Greene, NY/Greene Central) , Tim Santry (Hatboro/Upper Moreland), Elliot Zackoski (Scranton/West Scranton), Derek Goodwin (Hamburg/Hamburg), Bryce Busler (Mechanicsburg/Cumberland Valley), Kevin Hartnett (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell), Mike Testen (Sayre/Athens), Josh Veltre (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia), Mike Dessino (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex), Sam Shirey (Beaver Springs/Midd-West), Richard Perry (Meriden, CT/Middletown), Justin Grant (Easton/Easton)

The Huskies are coming off a sweep of two matches last weekend. Bloomsburg beat Cleveland State, 30-8, and Clarion, 28-8. In both matches the Huskies won eight of the 10  bouts.

Bloomsburg leads in the season series with the the Patriots, 6-1. A year ago the Huskies posted a 39-0 win over GMU. The Huskies won four matches by major decision, one by technical fall and one by fall in earning the win by its largest margin of victory of the year and getting its first shutout since a 54-0 drubbing of Millersville in January of 2012.

After the Huskies conclude their home stand with the George Mason match the team will head to Columbus, Oh. on Feb. 16-17 for the NWCA National Duals. Bloomsburg will do battle with 13 other teams for the NWCA National Dual title. Among the schools competing are Minnesota, Iowa State, Ohio State, Cornell, Kent State, Oklahoma, Illinois, Virginia Tech, Chattanooga, North Dakota State, Oregon State, Hofstra and Central Michigan.

The Huskies continue to have six wrestlers ranked in various national polls: Nick Wilcox (Greene, NY/Greene Central), Bryce Busler (Mechanicsburg/Cumberland Valley), Josh Veltre (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia), Mike Dessino (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex), Richard Perry (Meriden, CT/Middletown) and Justin Grant (Easton/Easton), are ranked nationally in their respective weight classes. Four of the six are ranked by Amateur Wrestling News (AWN).

Bloomsburg is ranked 25th by Intermat and 29th in the Wrestling Report.Com poll this week.
