Huskies Rally to Defeat #6 West Chester

Box Score BLOOMSBURG—The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team defeated No. 6 West Chester, 15-14, Saturday afternoon at Sports Stadium in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opener.  The Huskies rallied after a 6-1 deficit early in the first half to defeat the reigning PSAC champions.
 
West Chester raced out to a 6-1 advantage just 13 minutes into the game with Brigid Kyne (Newtown Square/Marple Newtown) scoring the lone Bloomsburg goal off a pass from Marisa Moley (Phoenixville/Spring-Ford).  However a steady Huskies offense chipped away at the Golden Rams lead.
 
Bloomsburg had a 4-0 run in the first half to bring the score to 6-5 in favor of West Chester with just over 10 minutes left.  Aubrey Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) tallied back-to-back goals, the second assisted by Falk with 15:19 on the clock.  Kyne netted another goal at 11:07 followed by a crease roll and goal by Patrice Coleman (Media/Penncrest ) a minute later.
 
The Golden Rams (3-1 overall, 0-1 PSAC) answered back with a goal with eight minutes left to make it a 7-5 game.  Kyne scored her third goal of the game on a crease roll with seven seconds reminaing to close the have at 7-6 in favor of West Chester.
 
The Huskies (3-2, 1-0) and Golden Rams exchanged goals at the start of the second half maintaining a West Chester lead 8-7.  Bloomsburg then went on a 3-0 run to take its first lead of the game.  Moley found the back of the net to tie the game at 8-9 with 25 minutes remaining.  Kyne scored off a free position shot then Moley found Falk in front to push the Huskies lead to two.
 
Then West Chester followed with a four goal run to steal the lead at 12-10 with 11 minutes on the clock.  Kyne finished another free position for Bloomsburg, then assisted Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) to tie the game at 12 with under 10 minutes to play. 
 
West Chester registered another goal to take its final lead of the game with 8:19 left at 13-12.  The Huskies tallied three goals in a row to ensure a Bloomsburg victory.  Falk finished a free position shot before Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) found the back of the net after running the ball all the way in from the 30 yard line with under five minutes to go.  Falk scored the game winning goal with 3:11 on the clock to go up 15-13.  The Golden Rams scored once more to make the score 15-14, but their tieing attempt was taken back after a dangerous shot was called and the Huskies were able to run out the clock.
 
Freshman Brigid Kyne (Newtown Square/Marple Newtown) had a career-high performance netting six goals and adding one helper, while Falk registered three goals and dished out an assist.  The Bossert Twins, Ashley and Aubrey each scored twice and Patrice Coleman (Media/Penncrest ) added a goal.  Moley had a goal and two assists in the game. 
 
Falk picked up five draw controls for Bloomsburg and Moley led with three groundballs.  In goal Abbey Burnett (Frederick, MD/Walkersville) had six saves and two groundballs. 
 
Bloomsburg continues PSAC action when it hosts Shippensburg Tuesday, Mar. 25 at 4 p.m.
