Box Score BLOOMSBURG—The No. 15 Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team won its fourth straight game after defeating Gannon, 16-12, Friday evening at Sports Stadium.
Marisa Moley (Phoenixville/Spring-Ford) had a career-high eight points.
The Huskies started the game with a three goal run. Bridig Kyne found the back of the net 1:30 into the game. Moley scored back-to-back goals to take a 3-0 lead. Gannon scored their first goal of the game at 21:48 to make the score 3-1.
Two more Huskies goals in a minute of play gave Bloomsburg a 5-1 advantage. First
Julie Falk (Millersville/Penn Manor) scored on a free position then
Brigid Kyne (Newtown Square/Marple Newtown) passed to
Carly Ball (Lansdale/North Penn) who beat the goalie. Gannon (4-4 overall, 1-2 PSAC) added an unassisted goal to make the score 5-2 with 19 minutes remaining in the first half.
The Golden Knights and the Huskies alternated goals within 30 seconds of each other bringing the score to 6-3.
With 9:44 on the clock Bloomsburg pulled ahead to a five goal lead at 9-3. Moley and
Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) both scored unassisted goals followed by another goal by Moley off a pass from Kyne.
Gannon scored its last goal of the half with 8:07 to go. Then
Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) assisted two goals in a row, first to Moley, second to Kyne, to close out the first half's scoring at 11-4 in favor of the Huskies.
To start the second half Bloomsburg and Gannon exchanged two goals each. Moley scored both goals for the Huskies and gave them a 13-6 lead. The Golden Knights edged their way back into the game with a three goal run to make the score 13-9 with 11:35 left in the game.
Bloomsburg answered back with two free position goals by Kyne and Falk maintaining the lead at 15-9. Gannon scored its own free position goal with just over seven minutes remaining.
Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) tallied the Huskies final goal of the game off a pass from
Morgan Sherriff (Downingtown/Coatesville) at the 5 minute mark. The Golden Knights scored the last two goals of the game to make the final score 16-12.
Moley led the Huskies attack with a career-high eight points off seven goals and an assist. Kyne finished the game with five points on three goal and two assists. Falk tallied three goals and
Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) had two goals and two assists.
Abbey Burnett (Frederick, MD/Walkersville) and Kyne led Bloomsburg in groundballs with four a piece. Burnett also made five saves in the win. Kyne also led the team in caused turnovers with four followed by
Allison Campbell (Pottstown/Owen J. Roberts) who had three.
The Huskies (5-2, 3-0) travel to Kutztown Saturday, Mar. 29 for a 1 p.m. game.
