PSAC CHAMPIONSHIP HEADQUARTERS STORYLINEThe PSAC East champion Bloomsburg University women's tennis team will compete for the conference championship this week in West Chester as the bracket is down to the final four teams. First up is a semifinal matchup vs. IUP on Thursday afternoon. The Huskies are seeking their first women's PSAC tennis championship since 2006 – Bloomsburg owns the most PSAC championships of any school in women's tennis with 10 all-time. California (PA) has been dominant in recent years, winning seven straight conference titles.
THE CONFERENCE BRACKETBloomsburg earned a bye through to the semifinals thanks to winning the Eastern Division title with a perfect 6-0 mark against competition from the East. The Huskies are faced with IUP, the No. 2 seed from the West, while in the other half of the bracket California (PA), the top seed from the West, takes on West Chester, the second seed from the East.
SCOUTING IUPIUP ousted third-seeded Mercyhurst (12-5) from the tournament in Monday's quarterfinals with a 5-1 victory.
-IUP swept doubles play with Tanya Timko and Erika Schnaas earning a dominating 8-1 win over Caroline Bristol and Sarah Baich at No. 1 doubles. Sophie Butland and Alanna McFail won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles, while Ranvita Mahto and Rachel Wood won No. 3 doubles 8-4. Butland won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Rachel Wood sealed the win for the Crimson Hawks with a 7-6 (12-10), 6-3 No. 5 singles victory.
-The Crimson Hawks are 15-8 overall and have won two straight, also defeating Grand Valley State, 5-4, on April 13.
-IUP is 8-1 vs. teams from the region this season and is 3-1 on neutral courts.
-Tanya Timko leads the singles lineup at 21-10 overall on the season and is 15-6 at No. 1 singles. Sophie Butland is 16-11, playing the majority of her matches at No. 3.
-The doubles team of Abby McCormick and Tanya Timko has been outstanding, going 13-2 this year including a 9-1 record at No. 1 doubles.

Maddie Graziani (Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) scored the lone win for Bloomsburg with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Abby McCormick at No. 1 singles. Timko, Butland, Mahto, Alanna McFail and Roxanna Yeh had singles wins for the Crimson Hawks.
HUSKIES DOMINANT THROUGH EASTERN PLAYBloomsburg put on a dominant run through divisional dual competition, winning all of its matches. The Huskies triumphed over West Chester (6-3), East Stroudsburg (8-1), Millersville (7-2), Shippensburg (8-1), Cheyney (9-0) and Kutztown (9-0) over a seven-day span to capture the East title.
UP NEXTThursday's winners advance to the Friday Championship Round. Both the championship and consolation rounds begin Friday at noon, also at West Chester.
