No. 11 IUP Pulls Away Late To Drop Huskies Lacrosse, 14-9

Box Score INDIANA, Pa. - Nationally-ranked IUP scored six of the final seven goals over the last 15 minutes of game time to pull away from the Bloomsburg women's lacrosse team for a 14-9 victory at Miller Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

After a back-and-forth first half saw the Crimson Hawks (12-4, 10-2 PSAC) , ranked No. 11 in latest Division II national rankings, take a 6-5 lead to halftime, Bloomsburg charged early in the second half to tie. 

Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) scored less than three minutes into the second period to draw the score even at 6-6 before the Crimson Hawks would score at the 22:32 mark on a goal from Drew Hayden and then registered a tally from Sarah Ward on a free position shot for a two-goal advantage with 21:16 remaining. 

The Huskies (8-7, 6-5 PSAC) immediately answered with a free position goal of their own from Julie Falk (Millersville/Penn Manor) at the 20:32 mark to pull within one and drew even at 8-8 when Aubrey Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) found the back of the cage with 18:50 to go.

IUP controlled the final 15 minutes, however. Hayden scored again with 15:04 showing on the scoreboard to start the Crimson Hawks' late roll, giving the hosts a lead they would not relinquish.Hayden scored again less than a minute later and Amy Weinberg added another goal at the 14:41 mark and from there the Crimson Hawks maintained their momentum.

Bloomsburg held the edge early. 

The Huskies won the first four consecutive draw controls and raced out to a 3-1 lead over the Crimson Hawks within the first eight minutes of the game. 
 
First Brigid Kyne (Newtown Square/Marple Newtown) scored on an assist from Morgan Sherriff (Downingtown/Coatesville) just four minutes in, followed by a goal by Aubrey Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) assisted by Julie Falk (Millersville/Penn Manor).  IUP scored one to make the score 2-1, but Falk assisted Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) to maintain a two goal cushion.
 
The Crimson Hawks went on a four-goal run taking a 5-3 lead with 12 minutes to go.  Bloomsburg and IUP traded one goal each making the score 6-4, with Kyne converting on a free position for Bloomsburg.  The Huskies tallied two more goals first by Patrice Coleman (Media/Penncrest ) then by Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon), one assisted by Kyne second by Falk.  Going into halftime the Crimson Hawks had a 6-5 edge. 
 
Ashley Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) tied the game, 6-6, when Falk passed to her in front.  IUP answered with two goals followed by two Bloomsburg goals.  Falk converted on a free-position and Kyne passed to Aubrey Bossert (Ambler/Wissahickon) making the score tied again at 8-8.  The Crimson Hawks then broke the game open with five unanswered goals to take a 13-8 lead with 13 minutes to go. 
 
Falk added to her team-leading point total leads the team in points with 61 on 41 goals and 20 assists.  With the two goals from today's game she moves up into seventh all-time for career goals at Bloomsburg with 146.
 
Moley is second in points for Bloomsburg this season with 55 on 29 goals and a team-high 26 assists.  Kyne follows with 34 goals and 10 assists for 44 points.

The Huskies, already locked into the PSAC Tournament, complete the regular season schedule by hosting Millersville on Saturday at 1 p.m. as part of Senior Day at Sports Stadium.
