Women's Swimming Opens Competition at Crimson Hawk Tri-Meet

INDIANA, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's swimming team leads Gannon, 50-41, and trails host IUP, 54-37, after the first day of the Crimson Hawk Tri-Meet Invite.
 
Caroline Hodgins (Schwenksville, PA) gave the Huskies a victory in the 500 free, winning by nearly two seconds with her time of 5:09.69. Teammate Karly Hursey (Hampstead, MD/Carroll, MD) finished third in the event at 5:15.38.
 
The Huskies 400 medley relay team of Alex Wheatley (Dresher/Upper Dublin), Nikki Young, Rachel Brooker (Stevens/Cocalico ) and Meghan Gallagher (Aston/Sun Valley) also was victorious with their time of 4:01.06, winning by over five seconds.
 
Young also finished second in the 200 yard IM with her time of 2:13.83. Brooker was fourth at 2:15.12.
 
Gallagher was fourth in the 50 free with a mark of 25.10.
 
Competition continues Saturday.
