STORYLINE
The number-eight seeded Huskies travel to take on the top seed Gannon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) quarterfinal matchup. Bloomsburg comes into the contest having won four of its last five games including a 1-0 win over Clarion in the final game of the regular season. The Golden Knights enter the postseason were undefeated until their last regular season game, a 4-2 loss to East Stroudsburg on Friday.
LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies defeated Clarion 1-0 in the final regular season game on Saturday.
Hailey Vonasek (Sparks, MD/Notre Dame Prep) scored a header goal off of a corner kick from
Allie Camp (Beavertown/Midd-West) in the 33
rd minute to give Bloomsburg the lead. The Golden Eagles had several chances to tie the game in the second half, but were turned away by
Devon Haviland (Warminster/Archbishop Wood) each time. Haviland finished the game with seven saves while Bloomsburg outshot Clarion 18-7.
LAST MEETING
Gannon defeated Bloomsburg 3-0 on Sept. 11 thanks to three second half goals. Mani Brueckner, Michelle Genetin and Sammy Valloud each scored in the final 25 minutes to give the Golden Knights the win. In goal,
Devon Haviland (Warminster/Archbishop Wood) made seven saves for the Huskies.
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies are led by the duo of
Allie Barber (Pittston Twp/Pittston Area) and
Ashley Sanchez (Lyndhurst/DePaul Catholic), who have combined to score 14 goals (seven each) and have 18 and 17 points respectively on the season. Barber has a team-high four assists while Sanchez, along with
Chrissy Hollan (Laurys Station/Parkland),
Jenna Fisher (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) and
Allie Camp (Beavertown/Midd-West), each have three assists this year. Overall, 11 Bloomsburg players have scored a goal in 2015. In net,
Devon Haviland (Warminster/Archbishop Wood) has a goals against average (GAA) of 0.97 which is good for fifth in the PSAC. Also, she has made 68 saves and has nine shutouts, which number one in the conference.
SCOUTING GANNON
Mani Brueckner leads the Golden Knights, and the PSAC, in goals with 16 and points with 38 as she is averaging almost a goal per game during the regular season. Following behind her are Sammy Valloud and Michelle Genetin, who have seven goals each this season. Gannon as a team scored 43 goals, the second most in the PSAC, and also tied for the second fewest goals given up with 13. In net, Shannon Differ has made 41 saves, recorded six shutouts and posted a GAA of 0.74.
