SETTING THE SCENE...•Bloomsburg will wrestle its second Eastern Wrestling League match of the year when it faces off with Edinboro on Thursday, Dec. 3, then will stay in the northwest corner of the state for the PSAC Championship tournament on Saturday, Dec. 5 at Mercyhurst University. The Huskies lost their EWL opener to Clarion on Nov. 15 by a score of 24-19.
• The Huskies are now on an extended leave from the confines of the Nelson Field House. Bloomsburg will go over two months between home events not hitting the mats at Nelson again until Sunday, Jan. 24 against Brown University.
• The Huskies lost to Purdue in its last dual match on Nov. 20, then placed 11th at the Keystone Classic on Nov. 22. In the match with Purdue the Huskies won two bouts by fall with
Andy Schutz (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area) winning in 5:37 at 133 lbs and
Dominic Carfagno (West Paterson, NJ/St. Joseph Regional) winning in just 0:32 seconds at 197 lbs.
•At the Keystone Classic Schutz and
Kyle Wojtaszek (Brick, NJ/Brick Township) at 174 lbs both finished in sixth place. Schutz had a win by fall and major decision, while Wojtaszek had a win by fall and technical fall.
•
Dominic Carfagno (West Paterson, NJ/St. Joseph Regional) leads the Huskies in several categories this season. He has a team-high 10 wins, three falls (tied with
Andy Schutz (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area)) and two technical falls. He also has the fastest pin this season with a time of 32 seconds.
• At the 2014 PSAC Championships the Huskies finished seventh with
Michael Mirra (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) taking second place at 197 lbs. In all the Huskies had five placewinners at the event with
Andy Schutz (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area) (133) taking third;
Tanner Cahill (Berlin, Pa. /Conmemaugh) (141) fourth;
Kevin Laubach (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) (149) sixth and
Casey Bearden (Hernando, FL/Citrus (Fl)) (174) also sixth place.
• In 2013 at the PSAC Championships the Huskies placed second overall and had nine placewinners with three champions.
• Alumni day has been announced for Sat. Feb,. 13, 2016 vs. Sacred Heart.
