ABOUT THE FIGHTING SCOTS
Edinboro opened the season at 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC, but is looking to snap a three-game losing skid after setbacks vs. IUP (12-9), No. 8 Mercyhurst (10-6) and Thursday vs. No. 16 Seton Hill (16-9). Edinboro ranks eighth in the PSAC with 12.3 goals per game and second in the league with 8.0 assists per contest.

Junior attack Rebecca Martin leads the PSAC in assists with 45 and enters Saturday needing just one point to tie the school record for career points (139), and with a team-best 55 points on the year she is just seven points away from her own school record set one year ago.

Sophomore Emily Peters paces the team with 25 goals while sophomore Alexa Healy adds 20 goals. In net, freshman Paige Skinner has tallied 85 saves in 10 games and compiled a 10.22 goals against average.

With three wins in conference, the Fighting Scots have tied the school record for PSAC wins that was set last year.

Edinboro was chosen to finish 11th in the PSAC Preseason Coaches Poll. Now in their seventh season under head coach Kevin Cooke, who started the program in 2009, the Fighting Scots went 7-9 overall with a 3-9 mark in conference play a year ago. Edinboro returned 2014 Third Team All-PSAC honoree Cydney Hrycko who had 37 goals as a freshman while Rebecca Martin led the team last year with 62 points.

LAST YEAR'S GAME
(Box Score) Bloomsburg was upset at Edinboro last year, 12-11. After an early back-and-forth, the Huskies built an 8-2 lead late in the first half before Edinboro cut it to an 8-4 score at halftime. Bloomsburg led 11-6 with 19 minutes to go, but the Fighting Scots scored the final six goals of the game for the victory. Julie Falk (Millersville/Penn Manor) had three goals and Brigid Kyne (Newtown Square/Marple Newtown) two for Bloomsburg while Cydney Hrycko and Anna Purdy each had three for Edinboro.

HUSKIES RISE IN NATIONAL POLLS
The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team moves up one spot in each of the two national polls this week, improving to No. 17 in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine NCAA Division II rankings and No. 18 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Top 20.

The Huskies played twice last week, dropping a 9-5 score vs. No. 2 Lock Haven on Wednesday before defeating Slippery Rock at home Saturday, 19-12. Bloomsburg has won six of its past seven games to move to 6-3 overall on the season and 5-1 in conference play. The team currently stands in a tie with Mercyhurst for second in the PSAC standings behind only Lock Haven.

BU GOALIES SUCCESSFUL IN NET
Both Huskies goalies have been successful this season. Freshman Brittney Hegarty (Rochester/Rush Henrietta) started the first eight games of the season and has made 53 saves with a 8.57 goals against average which ranks third in the PSAC. Sophomore Abbey Burnett (Frederick, MD/Walkersville) recently returned and has played three straight games including her first start of the year last Saturday. She has made 17 saves and has a career 9.47 GAA in 19 total games over two seasons.

TOUGH STRETCH COMING
Bloomsburg faces a grueling stretch of games as part of the stretch run of the 2015 season. After facing a much-improved Edinboro team today, the Huskies then have a pair of nationally ranked foes looming: at No. 15 Seton Hill on April 14 and vs. No. 8 Mercyhurst on April 18. The home finale on April 22 will also be a tough test against IUP which is currently 5-1 in conference.

BY THE NUMBERS
