LAST MEETINGBloomsburg lost at East Stroudsburg, 2-1 in overtime, on Oct. 11, 2014. The Huskies took a 1-0 lead into halftime, thanks to a goal from
Stephanie Halsted (Fairfax Station, VA/South County), that was assisted on by
Candice Smith (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove). The Warriors responded with a tying goal by Katie Barbato with just under 10 minutes to play. In overtime, Ally Roth put a shot past
Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin) to give ESU the win.
SCOUTING EAST STROUDSBURGThe Warriors, ranked sixth in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II Preseason poll, have won their first two games of the year, scoring nine goals in the process. In their last game, ESU defeated #7 ranked Adelphi, 4-1. Senior forward Ally Roth scored twice, and took over as the Warriors all-time leader in goals with 57. Last season, Roth tied for the PSAC lead with 22 goals, and led the conference with 56 points. In the cage, junior Danielle Ard has returned after winning 11 games last season. She has given up only two goals, and made seven saves in 2015.
LAST TIME OUTThe Huskies defeated PACE University by a score of 3-1 on Saturday.
Peyton Shockley (Milford, DE/Milford) and
Sam Peters (Yeagerstown/Mifflin County) scored within the first 10 minutes of the first half to give Bloomsburg a quick 2-0 lead. Samantha Gray put PACE on the board in the 19
th minute, making it a 2-1 game heading into halftime.
Eleanor Kirby (Garnet Valley/Garnet Valley) put one past goalie Bridget Murphy a little over 10 minutes into the second half to give the Huskies a 3-1 lead they would not relinquish. The goals were their first of the season for Shockley, Peters and Kirby. In the cage,
Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin) made three saves, including a leaping stick save on a penalty stroke by Sarah Bard. The win was the Huskies fifth out of six games, dating back to the end of last season.
ALL-TIME SERIESBloomsburg leads the series against East Stroudsburg, 42-6-0.
UP NEXTThe Huskies return home for four straight games, beginning with a matchup against Mercyhurst on Saturday, at 12:00 p.m.
