Final ResultsINDIANA, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's swimming team put together a strong weekend and took care of both Indiana (Pa.) and Gannon at the John A. Pidgeon Invitational. The Huskies got off to a strong start on Friday and then pulled away on Saturday.
The Huskies defeated the Crimson Hawks, 202-151, and then handled the Golden Knights by a final of 248-121.
Bloomsburg started day two with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay (1:50.90) as the Huskies edged the Crimson Hawks in the event by seven-tenths of a second.
Senior
Caroline Hodgins (Schwenksville/Perkiomen Valley) posted Bloomsburg's first individual win of the day, claiming the victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.59. Sophomore
Karly Hursey (Hampstead, MD/Carroll, MD) and senior
Meghan Gallagher (Aston/Sun Valley) finished second and third in the event.
Junior
Connie Medura (Nanticoke/Greater Nanticoke Area) followed with a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.65) as the Huskies went 1-2-3 in the event. Medura edged teammate, freshman
Kelsey Neff (Bloomsburg/Bloomsburg), by one-tenth of a second while senior
Ashley Dix (Schwenksville/Perkiomen Valley) finished third with a time of 1:12.80.
Sophomore
Sarah Ritter (Hampstead, MD/Carroll, MD) earned a victory in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:02.90 while freshman
Sydney Mercer (Bloomsburg/Millville) posted a win in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:09.67.
Bloomsburg added two victories in the 800-yard freestyle relay and in the 400-yard freestyle relay to conclude the day.
The Huskies will travel to York, Pennsylvania on February 18 through February 21 for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships.
