Field Hockey Fourth In Initial NCAA Division II Regional Rankings

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University field hockey team is ranked fourth in the Atlantic Region according to the initial NCAA Division II regional rankings released on Wednesday afternoon.

The regional rankings released are the official rankings that determine the field for the NCAA Division II Tournament. The top three teams in the Atlantic and the East regions qualify for the tournament. The Huskies currently sport a 10-5 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) standings with three games remaining. Bloomsburg's 2-1 double overtime loss to Millersville on Tuesday evening did not factor in this week's poll.

East Stroudsburg is the top team in the Atlantic Region, followed by Shippensburg and Millersville. West Chester rounded out the top five.

Bloomsburg has made the NCAA playoffs 30 times and has won the national championship 16 times during its storied history. The Huskies, however, have not made the postseason since going 19-1 during the 2011 season.

The final ranking will be released prior to the NCAA first round game, which is set for November 12. The semifinal and championship games are scheduled to be played at WB Mason Stadium in Easton, Massachusetts on November 18 and 20 respectively.
