BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's swimming team returns to the pool on Saturday afternoon when it entertains Clarion University at the Nelson Field House Pool. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
BLOOMSBURG NOTES
The Huskies come into the meet with a 2-1 overall record after posting back-to-back victories last weekend at Gannon and Edinboro.
Against the Golden Knights, Bloomsburg posted a 110-94 victory. Junior
Karly Hursey (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) dominated the distance events and earned a pair of individual victories. Junior
Sarah Ritter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) and redshirt junior
Courtney Middleton (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) chipped in with an individual and a relay victory apiece. Sophomore
Sydney Mercer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Millville) and freshman
Shannon Ball (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) joined Ritter and Middleton on the winning 200-yard medley relay team while freshman
Kaitlyn Floyd (Mertztown, Pa./Kutztown Area) added an individual win in the 200-yard freestyle. All told, the Huskies had 17 PSAC qualifying times against Gannon.
The following afternoon, Bloomsburg made it two straight wins with a 113-91 victory over the Fighting Scots. The Huskies won five individual events - two by Hursey - and had 16 PSAC qualifying times in the victory. Hursey won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.60 and then captured the 500-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 5:15.85 - the third-fastest time in the conference to date this season. Rebecca Cubbler (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) earned a victory in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:54.97, Mercer posted a time of 1:02.11 to win the 100-yard backstroke, and Ritter captured the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.30.
CLARION NOTES
The Clarion women's swimming and diving team enters the meet with a 1-1 record. The Golden Eagles defeated Grove City College, 179-125, to start the season but then was edged by Edinboro, 118-108, the following week.
In the victory over Grove City to start the season, Alexis Lopez had four victories and two second-place finishes to pace the Golden Eagles. She had wins in the 200-yard medley relay, the 200-yard freestyle, the 100-yard breaststroke, and the 100-yard freestyle and then posted runner-up finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle. Summer Dacheux added three wins while Rebecca Yonek had a pair. Michelle Morrisey and Katie Gore each posted one individual victory.
Against Edinboro, Letizia Collini posted the Golden Eagles' first victory of the day in the 100-yard freestyle. Summer Dacheux and Katie Querciagrossa went 1-2 in the 100-yard backstroke before Rebecca Yonek posted the team's final individual win of the day in the 500-yard freestyle. Clarion also swept the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions in the narrow loss.
