Wildcats Rally Past Huskies in Wrestling

BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University wrestling team fell at home for the first time this year losing to Northwestern University, 27-10, on Friday night at the Nelson Field House.

After falling behind 3-0 after one match, the Huskies rebounded winning three of the next four bouts to take a 10-9 lead. Matt Noble (Bridgewater, NJ/DePaul Catholic (NJ)) continued his fast start to the season posting an 8-4 win at 133 lbs to tie the match score at 3-3. At 141 lbs. Grant Bond (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) pulled out an exciting 6-4, sudden victory win getting a takedown just five seconds into the extra session to give the Huskies a 6-3 edge. After a tough loss for Kevin Laubach (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) at 149 lbs, Bloomsburg's Brendon Colbert (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) posted a dominating 19-5 victory at 157 lbs. to put the Huskies up 10-6. But that would be the last lead for the Huskies. The Wildcats (4-0) won the final five bouts to post a 27-10 win.

The Huskies fall to 3-3 with the loss. Bloomsburg will host Michigan State on Nov. 26 at 12:30 p.m. in a non-conference matchup.

Girard scores a takedown 20 seconds into the first period ... Girard controls Rubinetti and the two go out of bounds ... now in defensive, Rubinetti tries to escape, is unsuccessful but then ties the match with a reversal ...
