Complete Day Two Results

AKRON, Ohio - The Bloomsburg University women's swimming team completed day two at the Zippy Invitational, hosted by the University of Akron, on Saturday night and remained in ninth place in the overall team standings. The Huskies have a total of 192 points through two days of competition.

Bloomsburg started the night collecting 48 team points in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of freshman Kiera Wadsworth (Folsom, Pa./Ridley), junior Sarah Ritter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll), junior Kate Cossitor (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley), and redshirt sophomore Mary Kate Boylan (Edgemont, Pa./Penncrest) finished 14th overall with a time of 1:48.74. That mark is currently the fourth-fastest time in the PSAC this season and is the ninth-fastest time in program history.

The team of freshman Deanna Shuster (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury), senior Connie Medura (Plymouth, Pa./Nanticoke Area), freshman Kaitlyn Floyd (Mertztown, Pa./Kutztown Area), and freshman Shannon Ball (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) touched the wall in 16th place with a mark of 1:50.07.

Freshman Rebecca Cubbler (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) continued her strong weekend, and her strong rookie season, with a third-place finish in the "C" final of the 200-yard freestyle, posting a time of 1:54.04 - the second-fastest mark in the PSAC this season.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, junior Sarah Ritter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) finished third in the "C" final with a time of 1:05.55. The mark is the third-fastest in the conference this season and is the third-best time in program history.

The women concluded the night with 54 more points in the 800-yard freestyle relay event. The group of redshirt senior Kaci McIlmoyle (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove), senior Brooke Gilson (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall), junior Karly Hursey (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll), and Cubbler posted the second-fastest time in the PSAC this season with a mark of 7:47.73 in the finals. Finishing in 16th place, with a time of 8:07.84, was the team of junior Lauren Minford (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley), sophomore Laura Myers (Clarks Summit, Pa./Kingsway Regional), sophomore Sydney Mercer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Millville), and Cossitor.

The hosts, Akron, continue to lead the overall team standings after two days.

Day three of competition will get underway with preliminary races beginning at 9:00 a.m. Finals of day three will begin at 4:00 p.m.
