StatisticsSTORYLINEBloomsburg will go on the road for the final time during the 2016 regular season when it travels to Kutztown on Wednesday afternoon. The two teams are tied for tenth place in the PSAC standings and have both been mathematically eliminated from postseason action. The Huskies have lost nine of their last eleven games after starting the season with a 2-0 record. The Golden Bears have dropped four straight, and nine of their last ten, since starting the season with a 5-0 mark.
ALL-TIME SERIESBloomsburg leads the all-time series against Kutztown, 15-8-1. The Huskies have won 15 consecutive meetings between the two schools after going winless in the first nine meetings. Kutztown's last victory over Bloomsburg came during the 1985 season (12-7).
LAST MEETINGLast season, Bloomsburg defeated Kutztown, 18-8, on March 28 at Steph Pettit Stadium. The Huskies jumped out to an 8-1 lead and never looked back as they led, 10-4, at halftime and eventually won by ten.
Julie Falk (Millersville/Penn Manor),
Patrice Coleman (Media/Penncrest ), and
Taylor Turner (Corning, N.Y./Corning West) each scored three goals for the Huskies while
Marisa Moley (Phoenixville/Spring-Ford) had two goals and six assists.
Brigid Kyne (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) also scored twice and added three helpers in the victory.
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURGBloomsburg enters the contest with a 4-9 overall record and a 2-8 mark in the PSAC - tied for tenth place, with Kutztown, in the conference standings. The Huskies last played on Saturday afternoon and dropped an 18-3 decision against fifth-ranked Mercyhurst at Steph Pettit Stadium.
Nikki Fisher (Warminster, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy ) scored twice while
Hannah Jaskuta (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) added the other goal in the loss. Bloomsburg ranks 12th out of 13 teams in the PSAC in scoring offense (9.38 goals per game) and 13th in shots per game (22.00). The Huskies are also 12th in scoring margin (-3.8 per game).
Brigid Kyne (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) leads the Huskies with 26 goals and eight assists for 34 points. She also leads the team in shots (59), shots on goal (47), ground balls (45), draw controls (51), and caused turnovers (30).
Taylor Turner (Corning, N.Y./Corning West) is right behind with 24 goals and eight assists for 32 points.
Hannah Jaskuta (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) (18),
Kate Shea (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) (16),
Nikki Fisher (Warminster, Pa./Gwynedd Mercy Academy ) (14), and
Lindsey Coyle (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) (12) also have double-digit goal totals for the season.
Abbey Burnett (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) (nine starts) and
Brittney Hegarty (Rochester, N.Y./Rush Henrietta) (four starts) have combined to play all 780 minutes in goal this season. Burnett is 3-6 with a 13.09 goals-against-average and a .384 save percentage. Hegarty is 1-3 with a 13.52 goals-against-average and a .318 save percentage.
SCOUTING KUTZTOWNThings started very promising for Kutztown in the 2016 season as the Golden Bears jumped out of the gate with a 5-0 record. However, Kutztown has lost nine of its last ten games and is 6-9 overall and 2-8 in the PSAC standings. The Golden Bears also played on Saturday and suffered an 18-7 loss at IUP - Kutztown's fourth loss in a row. Sarah Gabriele and Lauren Huggins have done a significant amount of damage, offensively, for Kutztown. The duo has combined to score 74 of the team's 145 goals and has totaled 108 of the team's 205 points. Gabriele leads with 42 goals and 15 assists for 57 points while Huggins has 32 goals and 19 assists for 51 points. The next-leading scorer on the team is Makayla Bowman, who has 19 goals and four assists for 23 points. Watch for Courtney O'Neill on the defensive end - she leads with 37 ground balls and 34 caused turnovers. Abby Cox and Jen Bergey have almost split the goalkeeping duties in half. Cox (466:32 minutes played) is 1-5 with an 11.19 goals-against-average and a .379 save percentage while Bergey (435:05 minutes played) is 5-4 with an 11.86 goals-against-average and a .386 save percentage.
