BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Head coach
John Sanow is pleased to announce that seven newcomers will be joining the Bloomsburg University men's basketball roster for the upcoming 2016-17 season.
The seven newcomers consist of three true freshmen and four transfers – two from four-year varsity programs and two from junior colleges. One of those transfers, junior Karonn Davis, joins the Huskies' roster from Division I Niagara University.

Davis transfers in from Division I Niagara University where he started 28 games over two seasons for the Purple Eagles. He started 26 games as a redshirt freshman and averaged 7.3 points and 2.8 rebounds for Niagara. He led the team with 81 assists and committed just 31 turnovers. Last season, he played in 28 games and averaged 4.3 points and 2.1 rebounds while finishing third on the squad with 54 assists (25 turnovers). He played his high school basketball at Friends Central in Philadelphia where he averaged 19.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
McGirt spent two seasons at Valley Forge Military Academy where he averaged 19.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists during his career. He was named First Team All-Region and was a Third Team NJCAA All-American after his sophomore season. He also blocked 170 shots in two seasons. A native of Philadelphia, McGirt played at Roman Catholic High School.
Hunt-Hawkins joins the Huskies' roster after two seasons at Baltimore County Community College. He averaged five points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists while helping the team post a 39-21 record over the course of two years. A native of Philadelphia, Hunt-Hawkins played at George Washington High School.
Saxton, a native of York, transfers in after spending one season at Le Moyne College where he redshirted. He played his high school basketball at Central York where he finished his career with 1,107 career points. He averaged 14.3 points per game as a senior and was named a First Team YAIAA All-Star.
Melochick, from Port Carbon, Pa., played at Pottsville Area High School where he was the 2015-16 Republican Herald Player of the Year. He posted 13.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game during his senior season and finished his career with 1,067 career points. Melochick helped Pottsville to a 101-14 record over the last four seasons.
Mortellite played at Hammonton High School in Hammonton, New Jersey. He averaged 16.3 points per game as a senior and was named a First Team Tri-County Conference All-Star. He is the younger brother of redshirt junior
Christian Mortellite (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton) who led the Huskies in scoring last season.
Coleman-Grier comes to Bloomsburg from Upper Darby where he averaged 12.9 points per game over his career. He also led the Central League in blocked shots as a senior.
The Huskies will play an exhibition game at Division I Rider University on November 5 in Lawrenceville, New Jersey before opening the 2016-17 regular season on November 11 at Penn State-Hazleton.
