STORYLINE
Coming off of a 3-0 victory over the defending Division II National Champions, and top-ranked, Warriors of East Stroudsburg at Steph Pettit Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, the Bloomsburg University field hockey team (2-1, 0-0 PSAC) will look to continue its winning ways with a trip to Louisville, Kentucky to take on upstart Bellarmine University on Saturday and then brand-new Queens University of Charlotte on Sunday. The Knights are 2-0 after beating a pair of PSAC schools (Seton Hill and Mercyhurst) while the Royals, competing in their inaugural season as a varsity program, are also off to a 2-0 start with victories over Southern New Hampshire and Belmont Abbey.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The Huskies are 5-0 against Bellarmine in the all-time series while it will be the program's first-ever meeting against the Royals.
LAST TIME OUT
Bloomsburg improved to 2-1 on the young season with a convincing 3-0 shutout win over the defending Division II National Champions, and top-ranked, Warriors of East Stroudsburg on Tuesday, September 6 at Steph Pettit Stadium. After a scoreless first half, senior
Stephanie Halsted (Fairfax Station, Va./South County) gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead at 54:18. Freshman
Ali McKay (Dover, Del./Polytech) extended the lead to 2-0 with her first collegiate goal at 62:52 followed by sophomore
Erica Krebs (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) sealing the deal with 27 seconds left. Senior goalkeeper
Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) posted her first shutout of the season (eighth of her career) with six saves.
Bellarmine last played on Saturday, September 4, and posted a 3-1 victory over visiting Mercyhurst University to improve to 2-0 on the season. The Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead at halftime on goals by Kelsey O'Bryan and Kathryn Schneidtmiller. Aimee Ilgenfritz added her second goal of the season early in the second half to extend the lead to 3-0. Mercyhurst avoided the shutout on a goal with 5:42 left in regulation.
In its inaugural season as a varsity program, Queens University of Charlotte improved to 2-0 with a 1-0 win over visiting Belmont Abbey on Monday, September 5. Hanna Nechay scored the game's only goal at 19:04 while goalkeeper Miranda Childers stopped six shots to earn her first collegiate shutout.
LAST MEETING
The Huskies and the Knights last played on October 18, 2014 with Bloomsburg posting a 2-0 shutout victory at Steph Pettit Stadium.
Nikki Gattone (Reading/Muhlenberg) scored 3:30 into the contest to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. The score remained that way until Felicia Domenici extended the lead six minutes into the second half.
Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) posted eight saves to earn the shutout win.
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
Bloomsburg enters the contest with a 2-1 overall record and ranked eighth in the Division II Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) preseason poll. The Huskies have knocked off two ranked opponents thus far - a 5-1 victory at #7 Adelphi to start the season on September 2 and then a 3-0 home win over #1 East Stroudsburg on September 6. Sandwiched in-between the victories was a 1-0 overtime loss at unranked Pace on September 3. The Huskies have limited opponents to just two goals and 25 attempted shots through the first three games. Lindsay Cassel (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) has been the beneficiary as she has started all three games and has a 0.65 goals against average and an .882 save percentage. Offensively, Bloomsburg is led by senior
Sam Peters (Harrisburg, Pa./Mifflin County) who has three goals and one assist for seven points this season. She had a hat trick in the win over Adelphi and then assisted on the game-winning goal against East Stroudsburg. Freshman

SCOUTING BELLARMINE
Bellarmine, scheduled to play against Queens University of Charlotte on Friday, is 2-0 to start the season with home victories over Seton Hill (3-0) on September 3 and Mercyhurst (3-1) on September 4. The Knights' defense has allowed only seven shot attempts through two games. Goalkeeper Brittanny Macnab has started both games and is 2-0 with a 0.56 goals against average and an .833 save percentage. Heather Gregory came on in relief against Seton Hill and played just over 15 minutes in goal in the opener. Merit Harris leads the team with two goals and four points on the season. Kelsey O'Bryan and Kathryn Schneidtmiller have a goal and an assist each through the first two contests.
SCOUTING QUEENS UNIVERSITY OF CHARLOTTE
The Royals, in their first season as a varsity program after playing at the club level a year ago, are off to a 2-0 start with home wins over Southern New Hampshire (2-1) on September 4 and Belmont Abbey (1-0) on September 5. Hanna Nechay has scored two of the team's three goals on the season and has four of the team's ten shots on goal through the first two games. She scored the game-winner against Belmont Abbey in the team's last contest. Mazvita Mtisi is next in line with a goal and an assist for three points while attempting a team-high eight shots. Goalkeeper Miranda Childers has started both games and is 2-0 with a 0.64 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.

Bloomsburg will be back on the road with a much shorter trip to Mansfield in a non-conference game on Wednesday, September 14. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
