Wrestling Falls To Visiting Hofstra University, 30-9, Friday Evening

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University wrestling team dropped its fifth consecutive dual on Friday night after suffering a 30-9 loss to visiting Hofstra University in a non-conference matchup at the Nelson Field House. The Huskies dropped to 3-7 overall while the Pride improved to 2-2 on the season.

Seven of the ten bouts were decided by decision while the Pride garnered bonus points with a fall at 133 and a pair of forfeits at 141 and at 197. Hofstra jumped out of the gates early and grabbed an 18-0 lead through the first four matches thanks to two decisions, a fall, and a forfeit.

Senior Kevin Laubach (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) picked up the Huskies' first victory at 157 pounds when he posted an 11-4 decision over Jake Kaminsky to earn his seventh win of the season. Freshman Reid Stanley (Fredericksburg, OH/Waynedale) followed with a 3-1 win over Bobby Fehr at 165 pounds to improve to 7-8 in his rookie year. Bloomsburg's final win over the night came from freshman Kyle Murphy (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) at 184 pounds when he edged out Michael Oxley, 3-2, getting the decisive point with his riding time advantage. Murphy tied redshirt freshman Trevor Allard (Mexico, NY/Mexico) for the team-high in victories with twelve.

The Huskies will get right back onto the mat when they host Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) foe, Edinboro University, on Saturday, January 7. Start time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. from the Nelson Field House.
