BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University wrestling team dropped its sixth consecutive dual on Saturday afternoon with a 43-0 loss to visiting Edinboro University in an Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) matchup at the Nelson Field House. The Huskies dropped to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the EWL standings. The Fighting Scots improved to 2-3 overall and 2-0 against league opponents.
Edinboro was able to capture bonus points in eight of the ten bouts as it got five wins by major decision and one victory each by technical fall, fall, and forfeit.
Freshman
Matt Noble (Bridgewater, NJ/DePaul Catholic (NJ)) wrestled well at 133 pounds but dropped an 8-4 decision against Korbin Myers who entered the match ranked 18th in the country according to the latest InterMat polls. Freshman
Nate Newberry (Biglerville, Pa./Biglerville) was also able to avoid allowing bonus points against ninth-ranked Patricio Lugo at 149 pounds as he dropped a 10-3 decision.
The Huskies will be at the University of Pittsburgh Duals next Saturday, January 14, and will wrestle three times. Bloomsburg is scheduled to compete against Virginia Military Institute at 10:30 a.m., against Pittsburgh at 12:00 p.m., and against Columbia at 1:30 p.m.
