DAY TWO RESULTS
PSAC CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
YORK, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's swimming team had another solid day in the pool on Friday and finds itself still in second place after two days of competition at the 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center. The Huskies have a total of 457.5 team points and continues to trail only West Chester (893) in the overall standings.
The highlight of the night for the Huskies came in the 200-yard freestyle where freshman Rebecca Cubbler posted a new school-record with a time of 1:51.55 to finish in a tie for second place in the event. Caroline Hodgins held the previous school record of 1:51.80 during the 2015 season.
Junior
Karly Hursey (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) finished sixth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.54 while freshman
Kaitlyn Floyd (Mertztown, Pa./Kutztown) posted a mark of 1:56.32 to finish 12th overall - fourth in the "B" final.
Cubbler continued her strong night in the pool when she helped the 400-yard medley relay team to a fourth-place finish, joining sophomore
Sydney Mercer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Millville), junior
Sarah Ritter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll), and redshirt junior
Courtney Middleton (Vineland, N.J./Vineland), in posting a time of 3:54.26.Â
Bloomsburg started the night with a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Redshirt sophomore Mary Kate Boylan, junior
Kate Cossitor (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley), Floyd, and redshirt senior Kaci McIlmoyle teamed up for a time of 1:37.76.
In the 400-yard individual medley, five of Bloomsburg's six competitors qualified for evening finals after a strong morning of preliminary swims. McIlmoyle was the Huskies' top finisher in the event as she placed 12th overall (fourth in the "B" final) with a time of 4:38.91. Mercer was right behind, capturing 13th place overall after touching the wall in 4:39.20. Senior Brooke Gilson was 14th with a time of 4:41.07.
Ritter won the "C" final of the event, and place 17th overall, with a time of 4:43.79. Freshman
Kiera Wadsworth (Blakeslee, Pa./Ridley) rounded out the evening point-getters with a 24th-place finish after posting a time of 4:52.01.
Finally, in the 100-yard butterfly, Boylan won the "B" final and captured ninth place to lead the Huskies' contingent in the event. She posted a time of 58.00. Middleton was fifth in the "B" final - 13th overall - with a time of 58.93. In the "C" final, Cossitor finished fifth in the race - 21st overall - with a mark of 59.65.
Day three of the PSAC Championships will get underway with preliminary swims on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. Finals will resume at 6:00 p.m. at the Graham Aquatic Center.
