CLEVELAND, Ohio - Despite three victories by fall on Friday night, the Bloomsburg University wrestling team dropped its third straight dual, 26-23, at Cleveland State University in an Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) matchup. The loss dropped the Huskies to 4-15 overall and 0-5 against EWL opponents. The Vikings, meanwhile, improved to 2-7 overall and 1-3 in conference action.

Freshman Willy Girard (Williamstown, Pa/Williams Valley) and redshirt freshman Matt Noble gave the Huskies a 9-0 advantage through the first two matches. Girard posted a 5-3 decision over John Martin and then Noble needed just 20 seconds to pin Spencer Dusi at 133 pounds. Girard got into double figures in victories in his rookie season as he improved to 10-16 on the season. Noble, meanwhile, earned his first collegiate victory by fall with the win and improved to 14-10 in the process.

However, a forfeit at 141 and a pin at 149 gave Cleveland State a 12-9 lead through four bouts.

Senior Kevin Laubach recaptured the lead for the Huskies with his team-leading fifth pin of the season at 157 pounds before a major decision victory by Cleveland State's John Vaughn at 165 pounds regained the lead for the Vikings, 16-14. Laubach's win also got him in double digits this season as he improved to 10-15. Redshirt freshman Trevor Allard (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) earned his team-leading 18th victory of the season at 174 pounds to give the Huskies the lead right back, 17-16.

Cleveland State, however, took the lead for good with a major decision win at 184 and then a forfeit victory at 197 sealed the match for the Vikings.

Freshman Bruce Graeber (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) closed out the night for the Huskies on a high note as he earned his fourth pin of the season in the heavyweight bout. Graeber improved to 11-12 in his rookie campaign.

The Huskies will be on the road again next Friday, February 10, when they head to EWL-rival, Clarion University. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
