Orlando, Fla. – The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team heads to Orlando for four matches over spring break, beginning on March 12.
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies come into the trip with an 0-1 record. In their opening match against Wilmington on Sept. 16, Anna Newcomer picked up a win at number four singles. In the BU Open held on the weekend of Sept. 24, six Huskies picked up wins in day one. In doubles play, the team of
Cassidy Calimer (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Absegami) and
Vitoria Nery (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Educandário Santa Maria Goretti) went 2-0. In day two, the Huskies went 4-1 in doubles and four wins were posted. In the PSAC Championships held the weekend of Oct. 7,
Chloe Berridge (York, Pa./Dallastown) won her opening round match.
SCOUTING ST. THOMAS AQUINAS
The match against the Huskies will be the first of the spring for the Spartans. They come into the match with a 4-7 record, going 3-5 against the conference. In the fall, the Spartans posted wins over USciences, Molloy, Caldwell and Daemen.
SCOTUING SIOUX FALLS
Sioux Falls comes into the break with a 5-4 record, with wins over Ottawa, Doane, Southwest Minnesota, Mary, and Crookston. They won their first three matches of the season, but lost their last two. Before the Cougars face the Huskies, they will dual with Charleston.
SCOUTING WASHINGTON
Washington comes into the break with a 1-0 record with a win over St. Mary's. They only have two matches over spring break, with a match against Berry College taking place before their dual with the Huskies.
SCOUTING ITHACA
Ithaca comes into the break with a 10-2 record and a perfect 8-0 record against conference opponents. In the Empire 8 Championship held in October, the Bombers defeated Hartwick and Stevens Institute of Technology. So far this spring, Ithaca has lost to St. Lawrence and William Smith. Following their match with Bloomsburg, the Bombers will face Rensselaer Polytechnic and Colby-Sawyer.Â
