STORYLINE
Bloomsburg University women's soccer opens conference play on the road at IUP on Saturday. BU took down Chestnut Hill 8-1 Thursday night (Aug. 31), while IUP dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to Pitt-Johnstown.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
This will be the 17th all-time meeting between the two programs. Bloomsburg leads the series nine games to seven.
 
LAST MEETING
The Huskies blanked the Crimson Hawks 2-0 at IUP on October 22, 2016. Jessica Supp (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) tallied a goal in the shutout, which was assisted by Allie Barber (Pittston Township, Pa./Pittston Area).
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies overpowered Chestnut Hill 8-1 on Thursday night (Aug. 31) to open the 2017 season. Rachel Yenney (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) scored twice on six shots, and also tallied one assist. Allie Barber (Pittston Township, Pa./Pittston Area), Mackenzie Gebhardt (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen), Lauren Hoelke (Blackwood, N.J./Highland Regional) (one goal, one assist), Sam Rodkey (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) and Jamie Marsico (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) also scored in the contest. BU out-shot Chestnut Hill 34-13, including 19-8 in shots on goal. Jenna Hawkins (Hamburg, Pa./Fleetwood) (1-0) made two saves in her first win of 2017. Olivia Schantz (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) also recorded 22 minutes between the pipes in the win, making five saves.
 
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
After one game, Yenney leads the team with five points on two goals and one assist. Hoelke recorded three points in the win, and is second on the team. Barber, Gebhardt, Rodkey and Marsico each have two points. In goal, Jenna Hawkins (Hamburg, Pa./Fleetwood) is 1-0 with a 1.43 goals-against-average on the year.
 
SCOUTING IUP
After one game on the season. Kallie Conte leads the Crimson Hawks offense with one goal for two points. Gianna Parlavecchio tallied the lone assist on the goal, for her first point of the season. IUP leans on Madeline Smakulski in the net, who through 100:00 has allowed two goals and made three saves. She also owns a 1.80 goals-against-average.
 
UP NEXT
Bloomsburg welcomes Millersville on Wednesday (Sept. 6) for its home opener against Millersville. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at Steph Pettit Stadium.
