STORYLINE
The Huskies play at the friendly confines of Steph Pettit Stadium for the first time in 2017 when they host the Panthers of Adelphi University in a battle of two top-ten teams according to the preseason Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) rankings released last week. Bloomsburg, eighth in the country, is off to a 2-0 start and have outscored its opponents by a 14-2 margin. Adelphi, tenth in the preseason poll, is 0-2 and has been outscored, 9-0.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Bloomsburg and Adelphi have met five previous times in the all-time series with the Huskies winning all five prior matchups. Last season, Bloomsburg opened the year with a 5-1 win at Adelphi. Sam Peters (Harrisburg, Pa./Mifflin County) had a hat trick to pace the Huskies' offense while Peyton Shockley (Milford, Del./Milford) and Morgan McAllister (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) also added goals in the victory.

RHOADS WATCH
Head coach Nikki Rhoads is in her eighth season as the head coach of the Huskies and is just four wins away from becoming the second coach in program history to reach 100 career victories. Rhoads has a career record of 96-43 as the Bloomsburg head coach and trails only legendary coach, Jan Hutchinson, in career wins at the school.

LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies are coming off of a 7-0 shutout victory over Newberry College on Sunday, September 3, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Bloomsburg got two goals from junior Brooke Zeiders (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) and a goal and two assists from sophomore Ali McKay (Dover, Del./Polytech) in the win. Senior Geneka Mahan (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area), freshman Emily Alker (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East), junior Abby Sauder (Mount Joy, Pa./Donegal), and senior MacKenna Mahan (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) also scored for the Huskies. Bloomsburg outshot Newberry, 26-0, for the contest as freshmen goalkeepers Dana Sheply (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) and Hannah Barnard (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) combined for the shutout.

Adelphi dropped a 3-0 decision at Kutztown on Monday, September 4. The Panthers were outshot by an 11-5 margin despite holding a 6-5 edge in penalty corners. Senior Amanda Gargiulo stopped six shots in the loss.

SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies enter Tuesday's contest with a 2-0 record, having outscored their opponents by a 14-2 margin. Bloomsburg knocked off Queens (NC) by a 7-2 final on Saturday before blanking Newberry, 7-0, on Sunday. The 14 goals in back-to-back victories over the weekend marked the highest offensive output by a Huskies team in consecutive wins since scoring 21 goals in victories over Kutztown and Mansfield on November 3 and November 6, 2010. Junior Brooke Zeiders (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) leads the team in scoring with three goals and two assists for eight points. She had a goal and two assists on Saturday and then scored twice on Sunday. Junior Abby Sauder (Mount Joy, Pa./Donegal) has three goals for six points while sophomore Ali McKay (Dover, Del./Polytech) has a goal and three assists for five points.
