COMPLETE RESULTS

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's swimming team posted its fifth consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon with a 119-70 win over visiting East Stroudsburg University at the Nelson Field House Pool. The Huskies improved to 5-2 overall on the season while the Warriors dropped to 4-2.

Ten different swimmers posted a least one victory on Saturday afternoon and a total of 21 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying times were recorded. Marykate Boylan (Edgemont, Pa./Penncrest), Becca Cubbler (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford), Courtney Middleton (Vineland, N.J./Vineland), and Nikki Young (Eagleville, Pa./Methacton) each won two events - one individual and one relay - while Karly Hursey (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) and Kelley McHugh (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) added single victories in individual events. Kiera Wadsworth (Blakeslee, Pa./Ridley), Shannon Ball (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff), Kaitlyn Floyd (Mertztown, Pa./Kutztown), and Kate Cossitor (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) were part of relay-winning teams during the meet.

In the opening race of the day, the foursome of Wadsworth, Young, Middleton, and Boylan won by three seconds over East Stroudsburg's "A" relay team in the 200-yard medley relay to set the tone for the day. The Huskies' group posted a time of 1:49.89 while the Warriors' group came in with a time of 1:52.87 - less than a second faster than Bloomsburg's "B" team of Sydney Mercer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Millville), Samantha Carpenter (Sunbury, Pa./Shamokin Area), Deanna Shuster (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury), and Lindsay Mooney (Salisbury, Md./Parkside).

Hursey dominated the 1000-yard freestyle - the first individual event of the afternoon - as she won with a time of 10:58.16. East Stroudsburg's Amanda Eckert was second - more than a minute-and-a-half behind Hursey's pace.

Cubbler then won the 200-yard freestyle by just over five seconds to claim the Huskies' second individual victory of the day. The sophomore touched the wall in 1:56.62 - the only swimmer to finish in under two minutes during the event. Wadsworth, swimming as an exhibition, also posted a PSAC-qualifying time of 2:01.99.

Young earned her individual win by touching first in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a time of 24.60. Boylan finished second at 25.11 while Cossitor (25.46), Floyd (25.68), and Carpenter (25.79) also qualified for the conference meet next month. Middleton followed with a victory in the 200-yard individual medley by the slimmest of margins - one one-hundredth of a second over Mercer. Both qualified for the PSACs with their times of 2:16.09 and 2:16.10 respectively.

In the 200-yard butterfly, Sammie Carroll (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) and Abby Kling (York, Pa./Spring Grove) both qualified for the conference meet as they took second and third in the event. Boylan followed with a victory in the 100-yard freestyle, posting a time of 54.10 to win by more than two seconds over Mooney. Cossitor also got under the conference standard in the event.

McHugh posted the last individual win of the day for the Huskies in the 200-yard backstroke, edging Mercer by just under two-tenths of a second. McHugh's time of 2:11.66 and Mercer's mark of 2:11.84 qualified them for the conference meet.

The Huskies swam the next two events as exhibitions with Cubbler (5:13.58) and Chelsea Ackerson (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) (5:28.11) posting PSAC marks in the 500-yard freestyle and Young (2:23.26) and Kristen Bane (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) (2:37.10) hitting the PSAC mark in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Bloomsburg closed out the afternoon in style, winning the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.01. The winning foursome consisted of Cubbler, Ball, Floyd, and Cossitor.

Bloomsburg will host its annual Senior Celebration Day on Saturday, January 27, beginning at 12:00 p.m. The Huskies will then head to IUP for its final event of the regular season - the Crimson Hawk Invitational - on February 2 and February 3.
