STORYLINE
The Huskies look to extend their winning streak and even their Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) record when they travel east to take on the No. 19 Rider Broncs.

This will be the 18th all-time meeting between the two programs. Rider leads the series 11-6. Rider has also won the last four matches in the series.
 
LAST MEETING
The Broncs defeated the Huskies 32-6 last season on Jan. 27, 2017. Rider's J.R. Wert won the 125-pound bout over Willy Girard (Williamstown, Pa/Williams Valley) for a 5-3 decision, before Matt Noble (Bridgewater, NJ/DePaul Catholic (NJ)) got the Huskies on the board with a 4-1 decision over Brendan Calas at 133 pounds. Evan Fidelibus got the Broncs ahead at 141 pounds with a 19-9 major decision over Grant Bond (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs), before Nate Newberry (Biglerville, Pa./Biglerville) got the deficit down to one with a 3-2 decision over Gino Fluri at 149. Rider would take control to win the final six bouts with three decisions, one major decision, one win by fall and one forfeit.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies swept their host event last Sunday (Jan. 21) with a 39-12 win over Virginia Military Institute (VMI) and a 29-13 win over Sacred Heart at the Nelson Field House.
With the matches starting at 141 pounds, Shawn Orem (Pasadena, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) got things started with a 10-8 decision over Michael Hulcher, before the Huskies jumped up 9-0 on a forfeit at 149 pounds awarded to Evan Campbell (Berwick, Pa./Central Columbia). Bloomsburg extended its lead to 15-0 on a win by fall (3:51) by Kevin Laubach Jr. (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) at 157 pounds, before Blake Hohman got the Keydets on the board by pinning Nate Newberry (Biglerville, Pa./Biglerville) in 4:11 at 165 pounds. The Huskies went right back to work after the pin, winning five of the next six matches including four of them by bonus points. Kyle Murphy (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) started the run with a 12-2 major decision over Gage Levine at 174, before Trevor Allard (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) defeated Chris Beck by decision 6-1 at 184. Logan Womelsdorf (Benton, Pa./Northwest Area) earned a win by fall in 4:14 over Max Gallahan, before Saul Wilkins IV (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial) earned his first dual win of the season with a 17-0 tech fall over Jake Tomlinson. After Bloomsburg forfeited at 125 pounds, Andy Schutz (Exeter, Pa./Wyoming Area) polished off the victory with a win by fall in just 33 seconds.
 
Orem got the match against Sacred Heart started off even better with a 25-7 tech fall win over Shaun Williams at 141. After Campbell dropped a 10-4 decision to Alex Harnsberger at 149, Sacred Heart took a brief 7-5 lead on a major decision win by Paul Klee over Laubach at 157. The Huskies again used a run by winning six of the last seven, with three wins coming by bonus points. Newberry rebounded by winning a hard-fought 4-2 decision over Will Schmidt at 165, before Murphy earned his second win of the day with a 2-0 decision over Chris Zaccarioa. Allard won by major decision 12-2 over Mark Boyle at 184, before Womelsdorf pinned Joe Toci in 2:31 at 197. Bruce Graeber (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) would rack up six minutes of riding time in his 6-2 decision over John Hartnett. After another forfeit at 125, Schutz again sealed the victory in bonus-point fashion with a 20-2 tech fall over Tim Johnson.
 
Rider defeated EWL foe Edinboro 21-15 on Sunday (Jan. 21) to end a 24-match EWL winning streak for the Fighting Scots, ranked No. 22 by Intermat. No. 11 Sean Russell got the Fighting Scots on the board first at 125 pounds with a 5-1 decision over Wert, before No. 16 Korbin Myers doubled Edinboro's lead to 6-0 with a 12-5 decision over Cefolo at 133 pounds. Tyson Dippery got the Broncs on the board with a 15-0 tech fall (5:31) over Nate Hagan at 141, and Gary Dinmore followed it up with a 10-2 major decision win over Peter Pappas at 149. Andrew Shomers tied the match at nine-all at 157 pounds with a 4-3 decision over B.J. Clagon, before No. 3 Walsh got Rider back in front with a 16-5 major decision over Fritz Hoehn at 165 pounds, and Dean Sherry pulled off a second straight major decision for Rider at 174 by defeating Ty Schoffstall 21-12. Edinboro would get a 3-1 overtime win at 184 from Zach Ancewincz over Michael Fagg-Daves, before Ethan Laird would pad the Broncs lead with a 13-3 major decision over Aaron Paddock at 197. No. 14 Billy Miller closed out the match with a 3-2 decision over Mauro Correnti at 285.
 
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
Allard is the lone Husky with at least 20 wins on the season, with a record of 21-8. His 8-2 mark in dual matches is also tied for the best on the team. Schutz is second on the team with a 17-5 record, and is also 8-2 in dual matches on the season. Graeber is third on the team with 16 wins, including two in dual matches. Murphy has 12 wins on the season, with four of them coming in dual competition. Wilkins has 10 total wins on the season with one dual win. 11 other Huskies have recorded wins on the season, while seven of them have at least one win in dual match competition. Bloomsburg as a team has registered 48 bonus-point wins, including 25 by pin, nine by technical fall and 14 by major decision. Allard and Schutz share the team lead in bonus-point wins with 10, while Allard and Womelsdorf share the team lead in wins by fall with six. Allard and Schutz also have two wins apiece by tech fall, while Allard is the team's leader in wins by major decision with six.
 
SCOUTING RIDER
The Broncs are led by Walsh, who is a perfect 16-0 on the year and ranked No. 3 at 165 pounds by Intermat. Walsh is 11-0 in dual matches on the year, including 3-0 inside the EWL. The reigning EWL Wrestler of the Week also leads the Broncs with seven pins. In the Broncs projected starting lineup, eight other men have at least 10 wins on the season. 10 other wrestlers have won at least one dual match, while nine men have wins in EWL competition. Along with Walsh, four other men (Dippery, Dinmore, Sherry and Laird) are 3-0 in the EWL. The Broncs have recorded 14 pins in addition to Walsh's seven for a total of 21 on the season.
 
UP NEXT
The Huskies return home to the Nelson Field House next Friday (Feb. 2) when they welcome the Cleveland State Vikings for a Friday night EWL battle. The match will also be Senior Night for the Huskies, and is slated for a 7:00 p.m. start.
