COMPLETE RESULTS

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's swimming team opened the 2018-19 season with a 145-60 loss to visiting West Chester University on Friday evening at the Nelson Field House Pool. The Golden Rams improved to 4-1 on the year.

Junior Becca Cubbler (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) posted the only Huskies' victory of the night as she touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.07 - eight-tenths of a second faster than West Chester's Julia McCarthy.

Bloomsburg finished the night with 20 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying times. Sophomore Kelley McHugh (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) qualified for the conference meet in three different events - the 1000-yard freestyle (10:40.97), the 200-yard individual medley (2:12.97), and the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.55).

Cubbler joined senior Marykate Boylan (Edgemont, Pa./Penncrest), senior Sydney Mercer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Millville), junior Kiera Wadsworth (Blakeslee, Pa./Ridley), and sophomore Chelsea Ackerson (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) as two-time conference meet qualifiers. Cubbler was also a qualifier in the 500-yard freestyle (5:15.03). Boylan posted PSAC times in the 50-yard freestyle (24.95) and the 100-yard freestyle (54.55) while Mercer qualified in the 200-yard individual medley (2:15.00) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.68). Wadsworth (50-yard freestyle (25.81) and 100-yard backstroke (1:00.99) and Ackerson (1000-yard freestyle (11:04.80) and 500-yard freestyle (5:26.85)) were also two-time qualifiers.

Freshman Liz Jackson (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), junior Shannon Ball (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff), junior Kaitlyn Floyd (Mertztown, Pa./Kutztown), sophomore Lindsay Mooney (Salisbury, Md./Parkside), freshman Carlie Owens (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone), senior Samantha Carpenter (Sunbury, Pa./Shamokin Area), and sophomore Kristen Bane (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) each qualified for the PSAC Championships in a single event on Friday night.

Bloomsburg will jump right back into the pool on Saturday afternoon when it makes a short trip to Selinsgrove to swim against the River Hawks of Susquehanna University. Start time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
