COMPLETE RESULTS
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University women's swimming team won its fourth consecutive dual meet on Friday evening with a 116-88 victory over visiting Clarion University at the Nelson Field House Pool. The Huskies improved to 4-1 overall while the Golden Eagles dropped to 2-1 on the season.
Nine different swimmers posted at least one victory on Friday evening as the Huskies totaled 16 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifiers during the competition. Senior
Marykate Boylan (Edgemont, Pa./Penncrest) and junior
Becca Cubbler (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) paced the team with three total victories apiece - two individual and one relay. Senior
Sydney Mercer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Millville) and sophomore
Kelley McHugh (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) were the other individual winners on the night.
The Huskies started the night with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay as the foursome of junior
Kiera Wadsworth (Blakeslee, Pa./Ridley), freshman
Carlie Owens (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone), sophomore
Lindsay Mooney (Salisbury, Md./Parkside), and Boylan teamed up for a time of 1:49.97 to win the event by nearly four seconds.
Cubbler earned the first individual win of the night as she led the field in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.31 - two seconds faster than freshman teammate
Liz Jackson (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) who was second with a time of 2:00.37. Boylan followed with a victory in the 50-yard freestyle as she posted a time of 25.05. Then, in the 400-yard individual medley, McHugh blew past the field as she touched the wall in 4:38.07 - more than 17 seconds faster than Mercer who was second. McHugh's time was the third-fastest in the PSAC this season despite this being the first time she competed in the event this year.
Bloomsburg's next victory came in the 100-yard freestyle as Boylan continued her early-season dominance in the sprints. She swam the race in 54.46 - her fastest time of the season. Mercer collected her victory in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:11.83 as she edged McHugh by just over seven-tenths of a second. Cubbler followed with her final individual win of the night in the 500-yard freestyle after posting a time of 5:14.54 - 20 seconds faster than the next swimmer.
The Huskies ended the night with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Mooney, junior
Shannon Ball (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff), Jackson, and Cubbler posted a time of 3:40.92 which is the second-best mark in the conference this season.
Bloomsburg will return home on Saturday, November 17, to host Dickinson College at the Nelson Field House Pool. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
