BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University wrestling team remained winless on the season after suffering a 36-6 loss to 15th-ranked Lock Haven University on Sunday afternoon at the Nelson Field House. The Huskies dropped to 0-4 overall and 0-2 against Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) opponents while the Bald Eagles improved to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in EWL action.

Junior Willy Girard (Williamstown, Pa/Williams Valley) started things off on the right foot for the Huskies after he posted a 10-6 victory over Lock Haven's Luke Werner to improve to 12-5 on the season. Girard led 3-2 after the opening period then had a pair of reversals in the second period to take a 7-4 advantage heading to the third. Werner scored a quick reversal to cut the lead to one before Girard closed things out with an escape and a takedown to pick up the win.

However, Lock Haven rattled off six consecutive victories to take control of the match. During the run, the Bald Eagles had two falls, two technical falls, and a major decision as they took a 29-3 lead heading into the 184-pound bout.

Redshirt junior Trevor Allard (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) scored the other Huskies' win with a 7-3 decision over Breylon Douglas at 184 pounds to improve to 10-7 overall on the year. Tied 2-2 early in the first period, Allard scored a takedown shortly before the buzzer to take a 4-2 advantage after the opening three minutes. Allard added to the lead with an escape in the second and then, after Douglas picked up an escape early in the third, put things away with a takedown to earn the four-point victory.

Lock Haven closed things out with a decision at 197 pounds and a major decision at 285 for the final margin of victory.

Bloomsburg's next dual will be at the Nelson Field House on Friday, January 4, when it hosts Hofstra in a non-conference matchup. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
