STORYLINE
The Huskies look to defend their home turf against Saint Anselm on Friday (Mar. 9) in the team's home opener. Bloomsburg went 6-2 at the friendly confines of Steph Pettit Stadium in 2017.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
This will be the first ever meeting between Bloomsburg and Saint Anselm.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies opened their season with a 22-8 victory at Wilmington (Del.) last Thursday (Mar. 1). It would be a game of goals in bunches, with Wilmington (Del.) breaking the scoreless tie before Bloomsburg countered with three in a row. Wilmington would tie the game at three, before the Huskies would get another three in a row to go up 6-3. Wilmington scored two more times to get within one, before Bloomsburg scored the next five in under a five-minute span. The Wildcats would score the next two, before the Huskies would score the next six goals uninterrupted in a six-minute span. Bloomsburg led 18-7 after 30 minutes of play. Wilmington scored the first goal of the second half just 20 seconds in, before being held scoreless for the rest of the game. Bloomsburg would score four times in the second half to cruise to the victory. Bloomsburg out-shot Wilmington 36-16 on the day, including a 31-12 advantage in shots on goal. Both teams were 3-6 on free position attempts, while Wilmington won 19 draw controls to BU's 13. The Huskies collected 24 ground balls to Wilmington's 10, and also caused 15 turnovers while Wilmington caused only five. On the day, Sydney Collins (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) and Taylor Turner (Corning, N.Y./Corning West) each found the back of the net four times, while Collins also dished out a team-high four assists. Collins tied her career-high for goals which she set in last year's 18-1 win over Wilmington on Mar. 9, 2017. The sophomore's four assists also set a new career-high.  Megan Smith (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Jefferson Township), Erin Boulger (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area), Grace Kelleher (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side), Cailyn Gormley (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and Hannah Jaskuta (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area) each scored twice, with Kelleher totaling three assists and Smith tallying one. Anna Dempsey (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), Lindsey Coyle (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West), Abby Bergman (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) and Danielle Ward (Albrightsville, Pa./Vernon Township) each scored once in the win, with Dempsey and Bergman recording two assists and Coyle registering one. Tiffany Diachynsky (Barto, Pa./Boyertown Area) scooped up a team-high four ground balls on the afternoon, while five others picked up two apiece and another seven players each collected one. Diachynsky also led the team in caused turnovers with four while Turner, Erika Biehl (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and Allison Bardman (Barto, Pa./Boyertown Area) each caused two turnovers. Four others caused one turnover apiece. Angela DiPasquale (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) (1-0) got her first win of the season between the pipes, making four saves.
 
Saint Anselm picked up their first win of the season over Georgian Court back on Monday (Mar. 5). Just 1:01 into the game, Marta Versprille opened the scoring for the Hawks before Georgian Court scored the next four to go up 4-1 less than nine minutes in. Molly Beck scored the second goal for the Hawks, before each team would score twice over the next 4:54 to leave Georgian Court up 6-4 with 14 minutes to play in the half. The Lions scored with just under 13 minutes to play in the first half, before Saint Anselm went on a 5-0 run to end the half. Versprille scored twice on the run, along with goals from Beck, Meghan Sheehy and Erica Mattila. Sheehy would continue the run in the second half with a goal just eight seconds into the period. Georgian Court would score twice before another goal from Mattila four and a half minutes in, before the Lions went on a five-goal run that spanned just under five minutes. Kelsey Czarnota calmed the run for the Hawks with a goal with 19 minutes to play, before being countered by a Georgian Court goal. A three-goal run for the Hawks spanned just over two minutes, before Saint Anselm out-scored Georgian Court 3-2 in the final six minutes including a winner from Beck with 23 seconds left to get the victory. Beck led all scorers with six goals, while Sheehy scored five times and Versprille recorded a hat trick. Mattila scored twice, while Czarnota and Emma Palumbo each scored once. Sheehy's three assists also led the team. Saint Anselm collected 21 ground balls to Georgian Court's nine, with four players scooping up a team-high three apiece. Becca Shea and Versprille each picked up two, while five others snagged one each. The Hawks also won the draw control battle 22-15, with Mattila picking up a game-high 11. Saint Anselm caused seven turnovers to Georgian Court's three, while Shea having a team-high two. Zoie Cavotta (1-2) earned the win between the pipes, making 10 saves.
 
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
Through one game, the Huskies are tied for the league lead in scoring average with a mark of 22.0 goals per game. They are also third in the conference in assists per game with 13.0. BU is also fourth in the league in ground balls per game (24.00), first in the league in caused turnovers per game (15.00) and second in the conference in turnovers per game (12.00). Collins and Turner are tied for fifth in the league in goals per game average (4.00), while also being tied for seventh in goals with four. Collins's four assists are also tied for eighth individually in the conference, while her 4.0 assists per game are tied for fourth. Diachinsky's 4.0 caused turnovers per game average is second in the league, while her four total caused turnovers are tied for sixth in the conference. DiPasquale has allowed eight goals over 60 minutes between the pipes for a 8.00 goals-against-average (GAA). She has made four saves and has totaled a .333 save percentage so far on the season.
 
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
The Hawks have scored at least 10 goals in each of their three games this season, while dropping games to No. 6 Florida Tech and No. 11 Mercy College by a combined four goals. Through three games, they are tied for third in the Northeast 10 (NE-10) in goals scored with 42. Their 14.00 goals per game average is tied for seventh in the league. Beck's 10 goals are tied for fourth individually in the league, while she is the only double-digit goal-scorer on the roster so far this season. The Hawks are sixth in the NE-10 with 13 assists, led by three from Beck. The team is sixth in ground balls with a total of 46, with a team-high seven from Beck which is tied for ninth individually. Saint Anselm is the best draw control team in the conference with 47 total, with Mattila's 32 leading the conference individually. They are also third in the league in caused turnovers with 27, with Beck's six total being tied for third in the league. In the cage, Cavota has allowed 45 goals in 181:35 for a 14.87 GAA. She has totaled 31 saves and a .408 save percentage.
