STORYLINE
The Huskies look to extend their winning streak and get their 10
th win of the season at Slippery Rock on Saturday (Apr. 14) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
ALL-TIME SERIES
This will be the 26
thall-time meeting between Bloomsburg and Slippery Rock. BU leads the all-time series 16-9.
LAST MEETING
The Huskies won last year's game against Slippery Rock 5-3 back on Apr. 1, 2017 at Steph Pettit Stadium.
Kirsten Wozniak (Oradell, N.J./River Dell Regional) began the scoring 1:55 into the game, before Slippery Rock tied the game less than three minutes in. The Huskies would score back-to-back goals with
Danielle Ward (Albrightsville, Pa./Vernon Township) scoring seven and a half minutes in followed by
Brigid Kyne (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) scoring with 19 minutes left in the first half. The Rock got back within one with 17 and a half minutes to go in the first half, before
Hannah Jaskuta (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area) scored the final goal of the first half with 1:16 to send the Huskies to the break up 4-2. Only two goals were scored in the whole second half, with
Cailyn Gormley (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) scoring the first goal of the half less than four minutes in for BU. The final goal of the game was scored by Slippery Rock with 14 and a half minutes left in the second.
Bloomsburg registered 17 shots to Slippery Rock's 23, and also put 10 shots on goal to Slippery Rock's 17. Five different Huskies scored in the win. BU collected 19 ground balls to The Rock's 22, led by a team-high five each from Kyne and
Angela DiPasquale (Paramus, N.J./Paramus).
Julia Stauffer (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) and Wozniak each picked up two, while five others each scooped up one. BU caused nine of Slippery Rock's 15 turnovers, with Kyne's four leading the team and also being a game-high. Stauffer caused three, while
Taylor Turner (Corning, N.Y./Corning West) and
Tori Wigand (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) each caused one. Bloomsburg won the battle for draw controls 6-4, led by two from
Taylor Turner (Corning, N.Y./Corning West). Four others each pulled down one draw control in the win. DiPasquale made 14 saves in the win between the pipes.
LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies upended No. 23 Lock Haven 14-11 back on Wednesday (Apr. 11) for their second win of the season over a nationally-ranked team. Lock Haven scored the first three goals over the first seven minutes, before
Megan Smith (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Jefferson Township) got the Huskies on the board from
Lindsey Coyle (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West). Lock Haven would score the next two goals to stretch their lead to 5-1, before BU went on a 5-0 run to end the first half to go to the break up 6-5. Lock Haven scored the first three goals over the first 14 and a half minutes of the second half, before Gormley broke up the run assisted by
Grace Kelleher (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) with 15 minutes left to play. After a Lock Haven goal 44 seconds later, Bloomsburg would score the next two goals 1:10 apart to tie the game at nine, before taking a 10-9 lead just seven seconds later. Smith (12:47) and Kelleher (11:37) would score unassisted before Jaskuta would score from Gormley with 11:29 left to put BU up 10-9. Lock Haven would score back-to-back goals with 10:44 and 8:37 left in the second half, while the second goal was the final goal that the Bald Eagles would score in the game. The Huskies scored four goals in the final eight minutes and change to get the win over the No. 23 Bald Eagles. Kelleher scored on a free position shot with 8:25 to play, sending the game to the final five minutes tied at 11. Jaskuta scored the game-winner on a rocket to the top shelf with 3:23 to play, before
Erin Boulger (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area)'s seventh of the season (2:32) and Kelleher's fifth of the game (2:08) polished off the win for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg out-shot Lock Haven 34-27 in the win, including 31-26 in shots on goal. Kelleher led all scorers with a game-high five goals, while three other Huskies each netted two goals and another three players each contributed one goal. Six different Huskies tallied assists on the afternoon. Bloomsburg won the battle for ground balls 31-26, with
Delaney Schappert (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport South Manor) collecting a game-high seven. DiPasquale picked up five in the win, while Gormley registered three, five other Huskies scooped up two each and another six each grabbing one. Bloomsburg caused 17 of Lock Haven's 23 turnovers, led by a game-high five from
Abby Nocito (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape).
Anna Dempsey (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) and Smith each caused two turnovers in the game, while eight others each forced one turnover in the win. Bloomsburg edged Lock Haven in draw controls 16-11, with Dempsey's six being a game-high. Gormley grabbed five, while Boulger collected four and
Abby Bergman (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) also recorded one. DiPasquale (9-3) made nine saves in the win.
Slippery Rock defeated Edinboro 15-6 in their last action back on Wednesday (Apr. 11) in PSAC competition. The Rock scored the first four goals over the first 25 minutes of the first half, starting with a goal from Jasey Sanders less than four minutes in, before Tori Penders scored 41 seconds later to put The Rock up 2-0. Sanders scored again with 13 minutes left in the first half, before Tia Torchia scored the final goal of the run with five minutes to play in the half. Edinboro finally got on the board with four and a half minutes to play in the first half, before Sanders netted her hat trick goal with 2:49 to play in the first half. After that goal, The Rock took their 5-1 lead to the half. Penders scored the first goal of the second half less than four minutes in, before Edinboro scored their second goal of the game less than five minutes in. Slippery Rock would score their next two goals in a span of 1:04 coming from Jordan Grey (23:12) and Erin Brown (22:08). Edinboro would score their third goal of the game just over 10 minutes into the second half, before Bre Vodde would score 48 seconds later to put The Rock up 10-3. Edinboro scored 34 seconds later, before the teams crossed the halfway point of the second half. Sanders scored a woman-up goal with 14 minutes left, before Grey would score with 11 and a half minutes left to stretch the lead to 12-4. Edinboro's fifth goal of the game came with 10 and a half minutes left, before Jess Fullerton would 23 seconds later and then again with 7:05 to play to put The Rock up 14-5. Edinboro's final goal of the game came with 5:52 left in the second half, before Brown polished the win off with a goal with 4:14 left in the half.
Slippery Rock out-shot Edinboro 40-19 in the contest, including 33-13 in shots on goal. Sanders led the offense with a game-high four goals, while five players scored twice in the win and Torchia also netted one goal. Brown and ShyAnne Toomer each dished out two assists in the win, while four others each helped on one Slippery Rock goal apiece. The Rock out-worked Edinboro for ground balls 33-22, led by a game-high seven from Torchia. Three other players collected five each, while Emily Bitka picked up three, Caitlyn Byerly grabbed two and six others each scooped up one. Slippery Rock caused 14 of Edinboro's 32 turnovers in the win, led by four from Rachel Shaw. Torchia and Brown each caused two, while six others forced one turnover each. Slippery Rock won the draw control battle 14-9, with Torchia's four leading the team. Toomer snatched three, while seven others recorded one each. Bitka made seven saves between the pipes for the win.

The Huskies are fifth in the PSAC in scoring with an average of 14.08 goals per game, while allowing 11.46 goals per game. Rusen leads the team with 26 goals on the year, while also being 10
th in the PSAC. Gormley is second on the team with 25, while Jaskuta has 24 and Kelleher has 23. Four other Huskies have scored at least 10 goals on the season, while another five have scored at least one goal on the season. Kelleher's 21 assists lead the team and are also seventh in the conference, while 12 others have helped on Bloomsburg goals this season. Kelleher's 44 points (23 G, 21 A) also lead the team and are ninth in the PSAC, while 10 others have recorded at least 10 points on the season and another three have recorded at least one point on the season. The Huskies lead the conference in ground balls with 358, led by a team-high 53 from DiPasquale which is also the third-highest total in the conference. 14 others have picked up at least 10 ground balls on the season. BU leads the league in caused turnovers with 197, led by 28 from
Tiffany Diachynsky (Barto, Pa./Boyertown Area) which is the fourth-highest total in the conference. Nocito's 23 are second on the team and eighth individually in the conference. Seven others have caused at least 10 turnovers on the season for BU. Bloomsburg is fifth in the PSCA in draw controls with 162, led by 29 from Bergman.
