STORYLINE
Bloomsburg will host the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Team Championships this weekend (Apr. 20-21) as the No. 1 seed in the East. The Huskies are the top seed in the East division for the first time since 2013-14, and will take on the West division's No. 2 seed Mercyhurst. No. 38 Indiana (Pa.) (IUP) is the top seed in the West division and they will take on the No. 2 seed from the East division in West Chester. 
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
This will be the sixth all-time meeting between Bloomsburg and Mercyhurst. The all-time series is tied 3-3. 
 
LAST YEAR AT THE PSAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Huskies defeated East Stroudsburg 5-3 in the quarterfinal round of the PSAC Championships on Apr. 18, 2017 before falling to Mercyhurst 5-0 in the semifinals. 
 
LAST MEETING WITH MERCYHURST
That 2017 quarterfinal loss was the last time Bloomsburg faced off with Mercyhurst. Mercyhurst swept doubles play to go up 3-0 before clinching two singles wins to end the match. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
Bloomsburg defeated Virginia State 8-1 back on Apr. 14 in non-conference play. The Huskies swept doubles play and won five out of six singles matches on the day to get the win. Cassidy Calimer (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Absegami) and Vitoria Nery (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Educandário Santa Maria Goretti) began the day with an 8-4 win over Sydney Yao and Tamisha Richardson, before Isabella Sarquis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Metodo) and Siena Cerra (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) won 8-5 over Felicia Tucker and Christina Washington at No. 2. Cassie Wentz (Windber, Pa./Winber Area) and Chloe Berridge (York, Pa./Dallastown) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-1 victory over Deja Lovett and Katlyn Kearney at No. 3. In singles play, Nery won by default over Yao after dropping the first set 7-6 and being up in the second set 4-1. Calimer defeated Christina Washington 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles, before Giovanna Bonito (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Reino) swept Richardson at No. 3 6-0, 6-0. Berridge fell at No. 4 6-4, 6-2 before Wentz won 6-1, 6-0 over Lovett at No. 5. Cerra closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Charde Washington. 
 
No. 38 IUP won their last match in an 8-1 victory over West Virginia State on Sunday (Apr. 15). The Crimson Hawks swept doubles play before winning five out of six singles matches for the win. Jarka Petercakova and Luise von Agris defeated No. 24 Kierstin Hensley and Nine Dillwalkd 8-6 at No. 1 doubles, while Katya Minchenkova and Nicole Beidacki defeated Laura Isbey and Kayla McKnight 8-1 at No. 2. Julia Newman and Mariana Valenzuela completed the doubles weep with an 8-2 win over Hanna Kontsevaya and Sydney Miller at No. 3. Petercakova defeated Isbey 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, before Hensley would pick up the lone win in the match for West Virginia State with a 6-0, 6-3 win over von Agris at No. 2. Minchenkova defeated Dillwald 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 before Beidacki beat Kontsevaya 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4. Newman beat McKnight 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 before Valenzuela beat Nika Tadic 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6 to close out the match. 
 
Mercyhurst defeated Slippery Rock 5-0 in their PSAC quarterfinal match on Tuesday (Apr. 17). The Lakers swept doubles play before only needing two singles wins to clinch the match. Saioa Gomez de Segura and Adina Spahalic defeated Carla Corrochano and Lacey Cohen at No. 1 doubles 9-7, before Adrianna Jeffress and Kayla Frost beat Viola Lugmayr and Olivia Warner by an identical 9-7 scored at No. 2 doubles. Ovona Plecevic and Athina Tsagkaraki completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win over Lauren Fadden and Allie Welch at No. 3. Mercyhurst was able to clinch the match with a 6-0, 6-3 win by Gomez de Segura at No. 1 singles over Cohen, before Plecevic defeated Warner 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 to clinch the match. The remaining matches went unfinished. 
 
West Chester defeated East Stroudsburg 5-0 in their PSAC quarterfinal match on Tuesday (Apr. 17). The Golden Rams swept doubles play in the race to five format and only needed two singles wins to clinch the match. Rylee Power and Shannon Nixon opened doubles play with an 8-3 win over Marina Zardet and Aubrianna Stetina at No. 1, before Leandra Roelker and Elaina Rochford shut out Elizabeth Bartoli and Devin Presby 8-0 at No. 2. Julia Mowrey and Sofia Von der Heyde completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win over Quinn McCluskey and Amanda Jackson at No. 3. In singles play, Roelker defeated Presby 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles before Nixon clinched the win with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Stetina at No. 3. 
 
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
The Huskies come into the tournament with a 39-19 combined doubles record and a 72-38 combined singles record. Calimer and Nery as a pair lead the team with 11 doubles wins, while Bonito and Garrity as a tem and the team of Cerra and Sarquis each has six doubles wins. Four other doubles tandems have two wins on the season, while another six teams have one win in doubles play on the year. Wentz leads the team in singles play with 13 wins, while Bonito is second on the team with 11 singles wins. Nery owns 10 singles wins, while Berridge is next on the team with nine. Sarquis owns eight singles wins on the year. While Calimer has seven. Cerra and Garrity each have four singles wins, while Cara Eschenmann (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) also has two wins in singles play. 
 
SCOUTING IUP
The Crimson Hawks come into championship weekend with a 57-27 combined doubles record as well as a 116-48 combined singles record. Petercakova and von Agris come into the tournament ranked No. 36 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national doubles poll, and lead the team with 18 doubles wins. Beidacki and Minchenkova are second on the team with 13 doubles wins, while Newman and Valenzuela have 10 doubles wins on the year. Von Agris and Neidacki as a team have nine doubles wins on the year, along with five other doubles tandems who have one win apiece. Von Agris leads the team in singles play with 25 wins, while Beidacki is second on the team with 22. Valenzuela has 17 singles wins on the season, while Petercakova has 16. Minchenkova has 14 singles wins this year and Newman also has 12. Two other Crimson Hawks have recorded at least one singles win on the year. 
 
SCOUTING MERCYHURST
The Lakers enter the championship tournament with a 70-18 combined doubles record and a 158-24 singles record. Gomez de Segura and Spahalic lead the team with 24 doubles wins, while Frost and Jeffress have 23 doubles wins as a team. Plecevic and Tsagkaraki have 15 wins in doubles play this year, while three other doubles pairs have at least one win on the year. Gomez de Segura leads the team in singles wins with 35, while every other singles player has at least 20 wins. Jefress is second on the team with 28 wins, while Frost and Plecevic each have 25 wins. Spahalic and Tsagkaraki each have 21 wins in singles play on the year. 
 
SCOUTING WEST CHESTER
Through Apr. 16, West Chester is a combined 32-33 in doubles play and a combined 62-67 in singles play. Rochford and Roelker lead the team in doubles wins with 14, while Power and Nixon as a duo have eight doubles wins on the year. Mowrey and Von der Heyde have six wins on the season as a team while Mowrey has also teamed up with Gracyn Towler for two wins in doubles play. Power owns a team-best 14 wins in singles play, while Rochford has 13 and Mowrey has 11. Roelker is the only other Golden Ram with double-digit singles wins on the season (10). Nixon also has seven wins in doubles play, along with Towler who has two.
