STORYLINE
After a brief home stand, the Bloomsburg University women's volleyball team gets back on the road as the Huskies travel to a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Southwest opponents this weekend. The Huskies will visit Cal U on Friday night before traveling to Seton Hill on Saturday. Last weekend, Bloomsburg tied its season-win record as the Huskies improved to 6-11 on the year. Cal U enters Friday's contest with a 7-5 overall record while Seton Hill is currently 5-7 for the season.
NEW LOOK
With the addition of Shepherd to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), the sport of volleyball restructured its divisions. The Central Division will consist of East Stroudsburg, Kutztown, Bloomsburg, and Lock Haven while the Northwest Division features five teams - Gannon, Clarion, Edinboro, Mercyhurst, and Slippery Rock. The Southwest Division boasts Seton Hill, Pitt-Johnstown, Cal U, and IUP, and the Southeast Division will consist of Shippensburg, Shepherd, Millersville, and West Chester. The four division winners will earn an automatic bid to the PSAC Volleyball Championship while the next four best records will earn at-large spots.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The Huskies lost to Cal U 3-1 last year in the two team's first all-time meeting while Bloomsburg dropped a 3-0 decision to Seton Hill in the first match between the two teams in 2018.
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
Bloomsburg improved to 6-10 overall after dropping a 3-0 match to Clarion and rallying for a 3-2 win over Slippery Rock on the Huskies home court. Junior
Alyssa Cianciulli (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) took over the top spot in the country in digs per set as she is averaging 6.81 for the year. As a team, the Huskies are 10
th in the PSAC with 16.29 digs per set and sixth in blocks, averaging 1.90 blocks per set. Bloomsburg is now second-to-last in the conference with a team hitting percentage of .100. Sophomore
Grace Giza (Plymouth, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) leads the Huskies with 152 kills and a .185 hitting percentage while second on the team with 46 total blocks. Freshman
Julia Burcin (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) leads the team with 51 blocks. Sophomore
Mary Kate Mooney (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) is second on the team with 137 kills and second with 157 digs. Sophomore
Bryn Stek (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) and
Brooke Kratzer (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) continue to split the setting duties for Bloomsburg as Stek has handed out 237 assists and Kratzer 228. Stek also leads the team with 22 service aces this year.

SCOUTING CAL U
Cal U is currently 7-5 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC Southwest. The Vulcans lead the PSAC with 2.23 aces per set and rank fourth in digs per set (19.10) and seventh in assists per set (11.15). Cal U is 13
th in the conference in hitting with a .175 hitting percentage as a team. Leading Cal U's attack is freshman Kaylin Burkey with 149 kills and a .178 hitting percentage. Sophomore Sarah Benson leads Cal U with 418 assists this season while junior Jensen Silbaugh leads the team with 221 digs. Sophomore Shelby Alloway leads the team and is third in the PSAC with 0.56 aces per set this year.
SCOUTING SETON HILL
The Griffins, who play Lock Haven on Friday night, enter the weekend with a 5-7 overall record and a 1-3 mark in the PSAC Southwest. Seton Hill leads the conference in digs per set, averaging 19.53. The Griffins are sixth in kills (12.32 k/set) and assists (11.57 a/set). Junior Viktoria Farian leads the team and is third in the PSAC with 4.32 kills per set and has totaled 203 for the season so far. She also leads the team with 216 digs. Farian leads the team and is fourth in the conference averaging 0.55 aces per set and has 26 on the year. Senior Taylor Sabol leads the Griffins with 386 assists and is ninth in the PSAC averaging 8.21 assists per set.
UP NEXT
The Huskies will continue their road trip as they head to Lock Haven University on Tuesday, October 15 for a PSAC Central showdown. The Bald Eagles are currently 6-9 on the year and 0-5 in the PSAC Central. The match will be begin at 7:00 p.m.
