LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University wrestling team opened the 2019-20 dual portion of its schedule on Thursday night and dropped a 24-13 decision at Bucknell University. The Bison improved to 1-2 on the young season.

All three of Bloomsburg's victories on Thursday night came with bonus points as redshirt senior Trevor Allard (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) earned a technical fall at 184 pounds while redshirt freshman Josh Mason (New Ringgold, Pa./Blue Mountain) and senior Nate Newberry (Biglerville, Pa./Biglerville) posted major decision wins at 133 pounds and 157 pounds, respectively.

Freshman Christian Gannone (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport South Manor) opened the night with a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Brandon Seidman at 125 pounds before Mason gave the Huskies a 4-3 advantage with a 14-3 victory over Darren Miller. Mason improved to 8-4 on the year in his first season at Bloomsburg.

The Bison followed with back-to-back victories - one via fall - to retake a 11-4 lead which Newberry followed with a 15-5 win over Jaden Fisher to cut the deficit to 11-8. Newberry evened his record at 3-3 on the year.

Back-to-back wins again by the Bison extended their lead to 17-8 before the 14th-ranked Allard took care of Kyle Inlander, 18-3, for a technical fall win to trim the margin to 17-13. However, the hosts closed out the night with consecutive decisions at 197 and 285 to hold off a Huskies' comeback attempt.

Allard improved to 10-1 on the year with his victory at 184 pounds and inched one win closer to reaching 100 for his collegiate career. The win on Thursday night gives him 82 in a Huskies' uniform.

Bloomsburg will get right back to work on Friday night, December 6, when it hosts Rider University at the Nelson Field House in the team's home opener. Action is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. and will also be the program's first-ever bout in the Mid-American Conference.
