BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University wrestling team closed out the regular season on Sunday afternoon with a 35-7 setback to visiting Bucknell University at the Nelson Field House. The Huskies finished the campaign with a 3-13 overall record while the Bison finished their season with a 7-11 overall mark.

Junior Willy Girard (Williamstown, Pa/Williams Valley) and redshirt junior Trevor Allard (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) completed perfect 3-0 weekends as they scored the lone Bloomsburg victories on the afternoon.

Girard was pitted against Jake Campbell in the 125-pound match which proved to be an entertaining see-saw contest. Campbell scored the first points of the bout with a takedown early in the first before Girard answered with an escape and a takedown to close out the opening three minutes with a 3-2 advantage. Girard scored an escape early in the second to take a 4-2 lead before Campbell tied the match with a takedown. Both wrestlers then scored reversals to keep the match tied at 6-6 heading to the third. Campbell chose bottom to start the third but Girard was able to ride the Bucknell sophomore for the full two-minute period to collect the riding time point and a 7-6 victory. Girard improved to 20-11 on the year and earned his 40th career victory.

The Bison won the next six bouts, however, to take control of the match. Included in Bucknell's string of victories were two first-period falls and a major decision.

Allard stopped the bleeding with an 8-0 major decision in the 184-pound match to cut the Bison lead to 25-7. The Huskies' redshirt junior scored a first-period takedown against Kyle Inlander and then added to his lead with an escape and a takedown in the second. He added a pair of penalty points - on stall warnings - and a riding time point to earn his team-leading eighth major decision win of the year. Allard improved to 24-11 on the season and moved to 69-40 for his career.

Bucknell closed out the day with a major decision at 197 and a pin at 285 for the final margin.

The Huskies will travel to Fairfax, Virginia, and George Mason University for the 2019 Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) Championships on Saturday, March 9. Action is slated to get underway at 10:00 a.m.
