THE STORY
• The Bloomsburg University women's lacrosse team looks to halt a two-game skid and pick up a vital late-season victory at 14th-ranked East Stroudsburg Wednesday afternoon. The Huskies enter the day at 10-5 overall, and currently sit seventh in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) at 6-4 with just two regular season games remaining.
THE HISTORY: BLOOMSBURG vs. EAST STROUDSBURG
• The Huskies are 31-15-1 all-time against East Stroudsburg, but the Warriors have dominated the series recently, winning the last four meetings between the teams. Bloomsburg's last victory came at home back on April 17, 2014.
Grace Kelleher (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) had two goals an assist to pace the Huskies in a 17-5 loss to East Stroudsburg a season ago.
LAST TIME OUT
• Kelleher tallied a team-high seven points on six goals and an assist, and
Angela DiPasquale (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) recorded a career-high 19 saves in goal, but the Huskies were unable to mount a second-half charge in a 15-11 loss to 25th-ranked IUP Saturday.
Hannah Jaskuta (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area) added a pair of goals and an assist, while
Anna Dempsey (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) finished with a goal, two assists, and a team-high five draw controls in the loss.
THE HUSKIES FILE
• With her seven points on Saturday, Kelleher has now notched a whopping 33 points in her last five games, and 11 goals in just her last three contests. The redshirt sophomore leads the PSAC in points per game (5.55) and ranks fourth in assists per game (2.18) and goals per game (3.36). Kelleher leads Bloomsburg in total points (61), assists (24), and goals (37) on the year.
• Jaskuta ranks second on the team in goals scored with 35, while
Abby Bergman (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) has 27 goals, five assists, and 45 draw controls on the year. Dempsey leads the team in draws with 49 and has chipped in offensively with 21 goals and eight assists to her name.
• Defensively, the Huskies lead the PSAC in caused turnovers per game (16.13) and ground balls per game (27.13). Senior
Abby Nocito (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) leads the conference in caused turnovers per game (2.67) and is second on the team in ground balls per game (2.93), while sophomore
Tiffany Diachynsky (Barto, Pa./Boyertown Area) is third in the PSAC in caused turnovers per game (2.53). DiPasquale has been stellar between the pipes this season, ranking second in the conference in save percentage (.545) and fourth in saves per game (10.86) while also ranking ninth in ground balls per game (3.00). DiPasquale's 9.38 goals against average (GAA) is good for eight in the PSAC this year.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
• East Stroudsburg enters Wednesday's contest at 12-4 overall, and in sole possession of second place in the PSAC with a 9-2 conference record, but the Warriors are seeking a bounce-back victory after falling to Mercyhurst 7-6 on Saturday. Hana Cicerelle and Krista Mitarotonda had a goal and an assist apiece, but the loss marked the first time this season that East Stroudsburg was held under 10 goals in a game.
• Cicerelle and Mitarotonda have been a dynamic offensive duo for East Stroudsburg this season. The pair are tied for the team lead in points (66), while Mitarotonda leads the team in goals scored (54) and ranks third in the PSAC in goals per game (3.38). Shannon Dent leads the Warriors in assists with 28, and TJ Jefferis has 36 goals and 16 assists.
• Tatyana Petteway has started all but one game between the pipes this season and leads the PSAC with a .560 save percentage on the year. In addition, her 8.46 goals against average is good for fifth in the conference. Emma Ruffolo anchors the Warrior defense with 48 ground balls and a team-high 38 caused turnovers.
LOOKING AHEAD
• The Huskies will wrap up the regular season this Saturday, April 27, at home against Gannon. Prior to the start of Saturday's game, Bloomsburg lacrosse will honor its senior class for their tremendous careers with the Huskies. The PSAC Quarterfinals are set to begin on Tuesday, April 30. First Draw with Gannon is set for 1:00 p.m.
