EDINBORO, PA- The Bloomsburg University women's swim team traveled to their first away dual meet for the first time since 2019. The Huskies had their first win of the season against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) rival Edinboro University, Friday night. Leading the Huskies with three first place individual races were freshman
Julia Riegel (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South), junior
Courtney Hubric (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin), and graduate student
Lindsay Mooney (Salisbury, Md./Parkside).

The women consisting of, junior
Grace Beierschmitt (Dover, Pa./Dover), Riegel, Mooney, and Hubric, started the meet off strong as they secured first place in the 200- yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:50.19.

Hubric defended her title as PSAC champion in the 50-yard Freestyle as she secured the win with a season best time of 24.64. Hubric was also a part of the winning 200- Medley Relay, closing out the relay with a 50 free split of 24.38. Hubric rounded out her night with a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly finishing with a time of 1:04.04.

Mooney turned in a perfect three for three as she swept the competition in the 200-yard Medley Relay, 100- yard Freestyle and 400- yard Medley relay. Mooney's only individual win came from the 100 Free touching the wall at 54.68 narrowly out touching the competition by .09. Â

Freshman
Maggie Shaffer (East Petersburg, PA/Hempfield) made a splash at her second collegiate meet as she took second- place in the 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 59.48 as well as securing third in the 50- yard Freestyle, finishing closely behind her teammate Hubric, with a time of 25.48. Shaffer closed out her meet as she helped her teammates grab the win in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay with a split of 55.57.

Beierschmitt started off her weekend of swimming with a season best split in the 50-yard Backstroke of 27.63 to help her team win in the 200-yard Medley Relay. Beierschmitt rounded out her meet with a third-place finish in the 100-yard Butterfly touching the wall at 1:01.46.

Sophomore
Madison Osanitsch (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) led the Huskies in distance events once again as she placed second in a hard fought 1000- yard Freestyle finishing with a season best time of 11:05.92 slightly behind her Edinboro counterpart. Osanitsch grabbed another second-place finish in the 100- yard Backstroke, with a time of 1:03.20.

Junior
Tara Kupsky (Bear Creek Township, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) made her mark at her first travel collegiate dual meet with two second place finishes in the 100- yard Breaststroke and the 200-yard Individual Medley. Kupsky posted a season best in the 100-breast with an impressive 1:12.80 finish and was just off her season best in the 200-Individual Medley with a time of 2:19.00.

Sophomore
Sydney Lloyd (Nescopeck, Pa./Berwick) placed second in the 200-yard Freestyle finishing with a time of 2:02.30 and placed third in the 100- yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:14.39.

The Huskies closed out their meet against Edinboro with a first-place finish in the 400- Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:41.27, consisting of Beierschmitt, Osanitsch, Shaffer, and Mooney

The Huskies weekend of competition continues as they are back on the road Saturday for a 1:00 pm meet against Division 1 Penn State University at the McCoy Natatorium.
