LONG ISLAND, N.Y. – The Bloomsburg University wrestling team returned to the mat on Wednesday evening and rolled to a 24-13 win over LIU. The Huskies improved to 3-1 in duals this season while the Sharks dropped to 0-4.
 
The Huskies opened the match with five-straight wins to take a 21-0 lead midway through the dual. The Sharks rallied for four wins in higher weight classes until Shane Noonan (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) capped the match with a 3-2 decision at 285 to seal the 24-13 victory.
 
Bronson Garber (Millersburg, Pa./Upper Dauphin) kicked off the match for the Huskies with a 6-5 decision over Robbie Sagaris at 125 pounds before Cole Rhone (Benton, Pa./Benton Area) made his 2021-22 debut with a 19-1 tech fall over Bryce Cockrell at 133. Josh Mason (New Ringgold, Pa./Blue Mountain) pushed Bloomsburg's team lead to 14-0 with a fall at 141 pounds over Chris Gomez just 1:43 into the match. Cade Balestrini (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy) won the fourth-straight match for BU with a 4-0 decision at 149 points. Alex Carida (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) defeated Rhise Royster 11-2 for a major decision at 157 pounds to give the Huskies a 21-0 lead.
 
Noonan's win at 285 capped the match for the Huskies.
 
The Huskies return to action on Sunday as they travel to Duke University to take on Duke and The Citadel.
