Lauren O'Malley (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) and freshman
Bailey Corrigan (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra Area) of the Bloomsburg University women's track & field team wrapped up the two-day heptathlon at the Mike Kowal Combined Event Meet, hosted by Slippery Rock University, on Friday afternoon. O'Malley finished 10th overall with a total of 2838 points while Corrigan placed 14th after totaling 2389 points.
O'Malley found herself in 13th place after the opening day on Thursday but had three top-ten finishes in the final three events on Friday to improve her overall positioning by three spots. Corrigan was 14th after day one and remained 14th after the final day of competition.
On Friday, O'Malley was tied for sixth in the long jump after a leap of 4.70 meters. She then placed 10th in both the javelin (19.66 meters) and the 800-meter run (2:53.25). Corrigan's best result on day two was an 11th-place result in the 800-meter run (3:01.53). She took 13th overall in both the long jump (4.09 meters) and in the javelin (16.72 meters).
The Huskies will take a full squad to East Stroudsburg University on Saturday as they will compete in the All-American Meet. Action gets underway at 10:30 a.m.
