SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Just a day after hosting its own meet, the Bloomsburg University women's track and field team competed at the Paul Kaiser Classic, hosted by Shippensburg University. The Huskies moved up in several Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) standings as they head into the final weeks of the regular season.
Junior
Kathryn Blair (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) had a tremendous personal-best as she took first in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:41.72. That time also puts her second in PSAC standings. Junior Riley Sydney moved up to sixth in the PSAC In the same race as she took second overall with a PR of 4:49.50. Sophomore
Brianna Dumond (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area) took seventh overall in the 1,500-meter with a personal-best time of 5:01.41.
Sophomore
Sarah Castronova (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) turned in a pair of solid performances for the Huskies as she took third overall in the 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 57.54. That time is now the fourth-best in the PSAC. She also took sixth overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.33.
Sophomore
Nicole Keeley (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) improved her standing in the 5,000-meter run as she took second overall with a personal-best time of 18:34.72. Sophomore
Emma Fortune (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./James M. Coughlin) ran in the 10,000-meter run for the first time in her collegiate career and took third overall with a time of 42.25.15.
The foursome of Blair, Castronova, senior
Jessica Brenfleck (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), and freshman
Melissa Sicinski (Fountainville, Pa./Pennridge) finished sixth overall in the 4x400-meter relay with a season-best time of 4:04.07.
In the field events, sophomore
Sydney Derr (Fogelsville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) finished seventh overall in the pole vault with a jump of 3.05 meters while senior
Kathleen Stevenson (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) took sixth in the long jump with a distance of 5.21 meters (17' 1.25").
Sophomore
Molly Raville (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) took third in the javelin as she turned in a best-toss of 35.39 meters (116' 1").
The Huskies are scheduled to close out the regular season next Saturday, May 1, at the Lock Haven Qualifier. Events are scheduled to begin at 10:00 am.
