MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's track and field team opened the 2021 outdoor season at the 38
th Millersville Metrics, Saturday, and finished fourth overall with 123 team points. The Huskies collected a pair of victories and several sophomores earned podium spots in their first collegiate outdoor meet after the outdoor season was canceled in 2020.

Jessica Brenfleck (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) won the 800-meter run as she crossed the finish line with a career-best time of 2:23.8. Freshman
Brianna Dumond (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area) was not far off her teammate as she took fifth overall with a time of 2:28.88.

Ashley Blannard (Larksville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) collected the other win for Bloomsburg as she took first in the triple jump with a distance of 11.26 meters (36' 11.5") while freshman
Dahlia Hosey (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) took second with a distance of 10.64 meters (34' 11") and junior
Emilee Wasilewski (Kulpmont, Pa./Mount Carmel Area) finished third with a jump of 10.43 meters (34' 2.75").

Sarah Castronova (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) had a solid day on the track for BU as she took fourth overall in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.28 and second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.82. Castronova led the 4x400-meter relay 'A' team to a third-place finish with a time of 4:17.16. Castronova was joined by junior
Natalia Konitzer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Marian Catholic), freshman
Melissa Sicinski (Fountainville, Pa./Pennridge), and senior
Kathleen Stevenson (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) in the race. The Bloomsburg 'B' team, consisting of freshman
Bailey Corrigan (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra Area), junior
Lauren O'Malley (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area), freshman
Jhaniyah Newton-Ridgeway (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin), and senior
Autumn Avery (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) took seventh in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:44.91.

Individually, Sicinski finished eighth overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.66 and Konitzer took eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.75.

Riley Snyder (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) took fourth overall in the 1,500-meter run with a career-best time of 5:00.18 and sophomore
Nicole Keeley (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) finished sixth with a time of 5:01.45.

Sarah Bubeck (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) took fifth overall in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.92 while a pair of freshmen turned in solid performances in the hurdles as well. Freshman
Julia Magee (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) took sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.99 while freshman Alexia Kirk finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:13.41.

In the high jump, junior
Sydney Sheaffer (Port Royal, Pa./Juniata) finished second overall after clearing a top distance of 1.47 meters (4' 9.75") while junior
Erin Rottloff (Bensalem, Pa./Conwell-Egan) cleared 1.37 meters (4' 6") to take sixth overall for Bloomsburg.

A trio of Huskies took second through fourth in the long jump, led by Blannard. Blannard took second with a career-best jump of 5.61 meters (18' 5") while Stevenson captured third with a best-jump of 5.35 meters (17' 6.75"). Hosey rounded out the Husky jumpers as she finished fourth with a distance of 5.03 meters (16' 6").

Sydney Derr (Fogelsville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) cleared 2.95 meters (9' 8") in the pole vault as she took sixth overall for BU.

Kendra Yeboah (Breinigsville, Pa./Parkland) took ninth overall in the shot put with a throw of 10.48 meters (34' 4.75") while sophomore
Makayla Force (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) took sixth in the discus with a throw of 33.91 meters (111' 3"). Sophomore
Molly Raville (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) captured third in the javelin with a toss of 36.47 meters (119' 8") and freshman
Emily Peet (Wallenpaupack, Pa./Wallenpaupack Area) finished eighth overall with a distance of 30.57 meters (100' 3").

Bloomsburg gets back to action next Saturday, April 10, at home at the Husky Classic, hosted at Danny Hale Field at Redman Stadium. The meet is set to get underway at 11:00 am.
