SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University men's and women's track and field teams had a strong showing in their first indoor meet of 2022. The Huskies captured seven event titles, and 40 top-10 performances at the Susquehanna Multi and Invitational on Saturday.
On the men's side, senior
Hank Anderson (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills) won his preliminary heat of the 60-meter hurdles with a PSAC-qualifying time of 8.40 before returning to the track to win the finals with a time of 8.43.
The 4x200-meter relay team of
Robert Wilson (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon),
Doug Walsh (),
Marco Olmedo (), and
Tyreem Welton (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Wood) won both their heat and the overall title with a time of 1:35.42 while the team of Wilson,
Andrew Basile (Easton, Pa./Easton Area), Brady Dowell, and
Tyler Bailey (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:33.51.
Doug Walsh (), Welton,
Liam Grayson (/), and
Silas Wagaman (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) took seventh in the relay with a time of 3:55.09.
Bailey, Dowell,
Richard Loughran (/), and Brady Graham then teamed up for a third-place finish in the distance medley relay with a time of 11:04.71.
Basile brought home and individual top-10 time as he took seventh overall in the 400-meter run with a time of 53.93.
Ryan Duff (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) took fifth overall in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:15.12 while Justin Zeigler finished 10
th overall at 17:11.78.
In the field events,
Shaheem Hill () finished third in the high jump as he cleared 1.79 meters (5' 10.5") and took ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.07 meters (39' 7.25").
Dillon Steffy () took sixth with a jump of 3.35 meters (10' 11.75").
Walsh finished second in the long jump with a top jump of 6.52 meters (21' 4.75") and Anderson took third at 6.50 meters (21' 4").
Michael Makowski (Marion Heights, Pa./Mount Carmel Area) had a pair of top-10 finishes in the throwing events as he took sixth overall in the shot put with a throw of 12.40 meters (40' 8.25") and sixth in the weight throw at 12.74 meters (41' 9.75").
Ashley Blannard (Larksville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) won a pair of events on the women's side as she took first in the long jump with a distance of 5.56 meters (18' 3") and in the triple jump at 11.16 meters (36' 7.5").
Lauren O'Malley (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) took ninth overall in the long jump at 4.89 meters (16' 0.5") and
Sydney Beaverson (York, Pa./Red Lion) finished ninth in the triple jump at 10.21 meters (33' 6").
Sydney Sheaffer (Port Royal, Pa./Juniata) won the high jump as she cleared 1.56 meters (5' 1.25") and
Isabella Horvath () took fifth with a top height of 1.46 meters (4' 9.5").
Bailey Corrigan (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra Area) cleared 1.41 meters (4' 7.5") for 10
th overall.
Sydney Derr (Fogelsville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) finished seventh overall in the pole vault with a height of 2.75 meters (9' 0.25").
In the throwing events,
Madison Baudille (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) finished third overall in the shot put with a distance of 11.10 meters (36' 5") and
Kelly Gilmore (Colmar, Pa./North Penn) tossed 12.48 meters (40' 11.5") in the weight throw for eighth overall.
On the track,
Kelley Selheimer (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) and
Nicole Keeley (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) earned individual PSAC qualifying times in the 5,000-meter run as Selheimer took fourth overall with a time of 18:49.02 and Keeley finished fifth at 18:49.08.
Gabrielle Wetzel (Manchester Township, NJ/Manchester Township) finished 10
th with a time of 19:43.74.
Sarah Castronova (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) won the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.16 while
Delaney Porter () finished third with a time of 27.93 and
Phoebe Patterson () took fourth with a time of 28.06.
Castronova took second overall in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.08 and
Melissa Sicinski (Fountainville, Pa./Pennridge) finished fourth at 8.26.
Megan Gambogi () finished third overall in the 400-meter run at 1:05.43 and
Emma Fortune (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./James M. Coughlin) took fourth in the mile run with a time of 5:43.01.
The 4x200-meter relay team of Sicinski,
Yamilet Ferrufino (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty). Alexia Kirk, and Regi Wendt finished with a time of 1:56.50 to take third place while the team of
Delaney Porter (), Sicinski, Castronova, and Gambogi took second in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:20.21. Wendt, Beaverson, Ferrufino, and Kirk captured ninth in the 4x4 relay with a time of 4:40.79.
The distance medley relay team of
Kathryn Blair (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois), Patterson,
Riley Snyder (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy), and
Brianna Dumond (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area) took fifth overall with a time of 13:20.64.
The Huskies are back in action next Saturday at the Alvernia Winter Invite as they continue to prepare for the 2021 PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
