SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Saturday afternoon, the Bloomsburg University women's swimming team opened the 2022-23 season with a dominant 146-58 win over Shippensburg. The Huskies collected 22 top-three finishes, won 10 of the 11 events, and posted 13 PSAC qualifying marks.

The Huskies opened the day with a 1-2 finish in the 200-yard medley relay.
Gabi Walsh (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown),
Katie Eisenhofer (Reading, PA/Schuylkill Valley),
Maggie Shaffer (East Petersburg, PA/Hempfield), and
Courtney Hubric (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) picked up the win with a time of 1:51.48, while
Grace Beierschmitt (Dover, Pa./Dover),
Anna Sugra (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor),
Sydney Lloyd (Nescopeck, Pa./Berwick), and
Rylee Wenzel (West Lawn, PA/Wilson High School) took second at 1:51.78.

In the first individual race, junior
Jada Stambaugh (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) finished second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:27.07. Senior
Tara Kupsky (Bear Creek Township, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) came in third at 11:28.01.

Madison Osanitsch (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) earned the first individual win of the day as she hit a PSAC-qualifying mark in the 200-yard free with a time of 2:00.08 and the win. Sophomore
Julia Riegel (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) touched the wall at 2:05.53 for fourth, and senior
Alicia Lehman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) finished sixth overall at 2:08.66.

Sophomore
Rylee Wenzel (West Lawn, PA/Wilson High School) won the second-straight race for the Huskies, finishing first in the 50-yard free with a PSAC time of 24.81. Lloyd took third at 25.42, and Shaffer finished fourth at 25.64, both PSAC qualifying times.

Eisenhofer continued the streak of even wins, taking first in the 200-yard IM with a PSAC-qualifying time of 2:16.35.
Taleah Ruben (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) just missed a PSAC time in her first collegiate race as she took third with a time of 2:18.57. The PSAC mark is set at 2:18.26. Sugra finished fifth with a time of 2:21.92, and
Catie Strayer (York, PA/Central York) posted a time of 2:25.03.

The Huskies dominated the 100-yard butterfly, taking the top five spots. Shaffer won the race with a PSAC mark of 59.55, while Kupsky came in at 1:01.12 for second and a PSAC time. Lloyd finished third at 1:01.52, and Hubric finished fourth at 1:02.94.
Katie Sharkey (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) rounded out the top five with a time of 1:03.41.

Beierschmitt won the Huskies' fifth-straight race as she took first in the 100-yard free with a time of 55.74, a PSAC qualifying mark. Lehman finished second with a time of 57.02, and
Dani Noss (Mifflinville, Pa/Central Columbia) took sixth at 1:02.19.

Gabi Walsh (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) won the 100-yard back with a PSAC time of 1:00.75, and
Justine Drake (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) missed her PSAC time as she took second at 1:02.57. Stambaugh came in fourth at 1:03.83.

Osanitsch won the 500-yard free with a PSAC time of 5:20.06, and Strayer took fourth at 5:41.57.

Ruben won the final individual race of the day as she took first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a PSAC time of 1:10.02. Sugra and Eisenhofer tied for second with a time of 1:10.95. Kupsky finished fifth with a time of 1:11.47, and Riegel took seventh at 1:13.64.

The Huskies capped the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Wenzel, Osanitsch, Beierschmitt, and Hubric won with a time of 1:39.60, Riegel, Stambaugh, Walsh, and Lehman finished second with a time of 1:45.35.

The Huskies return to the pool next Saturday as they head to rival West Chester for a 1:00 p.m. meet at the Graham Natatorium.
