EDINBORO, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University wrestling team used five bonus point wins to take down Edinboro University 29-14 in their regular season finale. The Huskies finished the year 9-6 in duals and 2-5 against Mid-American Conference (MAC) teams.
 
Redshirt sophomore Shane Noonan (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) kicked off a string of four-straight wins for the Huskies with a 3-2 decision over Max Millin at 285 pounds. The win for BU cut the Edinboro lead to 14-13. Junior Bronson Garber (Millersburg, Pa./Upper Dauphin) gave the lead back to Bloomsburg with a pin at 125 pounds. Garber battled through the first two periods with Christopher Merlo before he got the pin 34 seconds into the third period at 5:34.
 
Junior Cole Rhone (Benton, Pa./Benton Area) sealed the Bloomsburg victory with a pin at 133 pounds. Rhone got his second pin of the season at the 6:22 mark to push the Huskies lead to 25-14. Redshirt junior Josh Mason (New Ringgold, Pa./Blue Mountain) wrapped up the match with a 9-0 major decision at 141 pounds over Jackie Gold.
 
Freshman Cade Balestrini (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy) earned the first win of the day for Bloomsburg with a fall at 2:27 over Sully Allen in the 149-pound bout. Senior Alex Carida (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) earned his first win of the day with a 12-1 major decision over PJ Gohn at 157 pounds to give Bloomsburg a 10-0 lead.
 
The Fighting Scots won the next four matches to take a 14-10 lead with four matches to play.
 
In the extra matches, Rhone picked up a 10-7 decision over Cameron Soda at 133 pounds and a pin at 4:27 over Chris Merlo. Carida picked up a 17-0 tech fall at 5:00 in the 157-pound extra match over Jake Pail to move to 22-8 for the year.
 
The Huskies now set their sights on the MAC Championships beginning on March 4 in Athens, Ohio.
