BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Head coach Nikki Hartranft and the Bloomsburg University field hockey team recently announced its 18-game schedule for the upcoming 2022 season.

The Huskies are coming off an 8-10 season and will open up the year with seven of their first nine games on the road.

Bloomsburg will begin the year on Sept. 1 with an away game at Belmont Abbey in Belmont, North Carolina. The Huskies then play two straight games in South Carolina as the squad takes on Newberry and Coker on Sept. 3 and Sept. 5 before returning home for their home opener against New Haven on Sept. 9. Bloomsburg's first home game against New Haven will also be the team's Suicide Prevention Game.

After the team's first home game of 2022, the Huskies will have another two-game road stretch against out-of-state opponents. This time, the team heads to New York to take on Pace (Sept. 16) and St. Thomas Aquinas (Sept. 18) in non-conference games. The Huskies' road trip will be followed up by a home game the following weekend when the team hosts Frostburg State on Sept. 24.

Bloomsburg plays at Mercyhurst on Sept. 27 and at Millersville on Oct. 1 before closing out the year with a stretch of games at home. The team's road game at Millersville begins conference play.

After play in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference begins, six of Bloomsburg's final nine games will be at home. First, the team hosts Mercyhurst on Oct. 8 for its Alumni Welcome Back game. Then after an away game with East Stroudsburg (Oct. 12), Bloomsburg hosts Indiana (Pa.) on Oct. 15 and Kutztown on Oct. 18.

The Huskies play their final two away games at Mansfield (Oct. 26) and Shippensburg (Oct. 29) before playing their final three games at home. The team's last three games at Steph Pettit Stadium will be against West Chester (Nov. 1), Lindenwood (Nov. 5) and Slippery Rock (Nov. 12). Bloomsburg's last contest against Slippery Rock will be Senior Day.
