PREVIEW: Field Hockey Set to Take On Mansfield in Opening Round of PSAC Tournament

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg field hockey team is set to compete against Mansfield in the first round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament on Tuesday, October 31 at 4 p.m.

Tickets for the game can be purchased online through TicketLeap or at the gate. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students K-12. Students of member institutions get free admission with a valid student I.D.
 
The Huskies make their ninth trip to the postseason under head coach Nikki Hartranft. Since 2010, the Huskies have amassed a 6-8 record in the PSAC Tournament, including a pair of conference championships.
 
The maroon and gold will face off against Mansfield in the playoffs for just the third time in the last 25 years. The last postseason meeting between the two teams came in the semifinals in 2010, when the Huskies dispatched the Mountaineers 4-3 en route to winning the 17th PSAC title in program history.
 
The last matchup between Bloomsburg and Mansfield came just a week ago as the Mounties knocked off the Huskies with a last second goal to secure the 4-3 victory inside Steph Pettit Stadium. Overall, Bloomsburg holds a 21-5 all-time record against Mansfield.
 
Junior goalkeeper Jackie Nevel's (Nescopeck, Pa./Berwick Area) 75 saves this season is the most among all goalies in the tournament. She is also tied for second in the PSAC in shutouts with seven this season. Nevel did not concede a goal for five straight games from October 7 to October 21. She recorded a shutout streak over 360 minutes in length spanning from the second quarter of the Huskies contest against Kutztown on Wednesday, October 4 to the second quarter of the Mansfield game on Tuesday, October 24.
 
Emily Swineford (Mt. Pleasant Mills, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) leads Bloomsburg in scoring this season, posting 11 goals and 25 points this season. Swineford enters the postseason fifth in the conference in goals, and eighth in points.
 
Junior Aydan McFarland (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) and freshman Genna Bush (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) have combined for 18 goals and 40 points in 18 games,
 
Junior Bella Culp (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) sits at 19 points this year with four goals and 11 assists. Her 11 assists is tied for 13th all-time in single-season assists in Bloomsburg history.
 
The winner of Tuesday's contest advance to the semifinals on Friday, November 3 and face East Stroudsburg.
