Wrestling Has Strong Weekend at Wrangle Mania and the 2023 Journeymen Classic

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bloomsburg wrestling team had an impressive weekend between Wrangle Mania and the 2023 Journeymen Collegiate Classic, Saturday and Sunday.
 
On Saturday, sophomore William Morrow (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) highlighted the day with a pair of wins at 149 pounds. He opened the day with a 13-3 major decision over Aaron Faison of NC State before getting a 25-10 (6:46) tech fall over Michel Ritacco of Sacred Heart.
 
Bronson Garber (Millersburg, Pa./Upper Dauphin) finished the day 1-1 on Saturday with a 15-1 major decision over Mikey Manta of Sacred Heart. Cade Balestrini (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) also got a win with a 6-4 decision over Mike McGhee of Sacred Heart.
 
Anthony DeRosa (Milford, N.J./Bethlehem Catholic) earned a 14-4 major decision over Nicky Eboli of Sacred Heart and Bruno Stolfi (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) got his first fall of the season with a second-period pin (4:56) of Owen Ayotte of Sacred Heart. Shane Noonan (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) finished 1-1 on the day as well with a fall at 1:32 over Marc Berisha of Sacred Heart.
 
On Sunday, the Huskies collect four three first place, eight second place, and one third place finish at the Journeymen Classic.
 
 DeRosa finished first in the 174B bracket after getting a fall at 1:56 over Kent McCombs at 1:56 in the final bout of the bracket. Macon Myers (York, Pa./Central York) took first with a 2-1 record in the 165F bracket. After dropped an 11-2 major decision to Jack Pickersgill in his first match, Myers won his next two to claim the top spot. He posted a 6-0 decision over Ryan Alverado of Army before closing out the day with a fall at 1:41 over Calvin Pineda of Sacred Heart.
 
Shane Noonan (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) continued his strong weekend by claiming the top spot at 285D. He dropped his first match of the day but got a medical win (10-3) over Zach Delsanter of Penn in the second round. Noonan posted his second pin of the weekend with a fall at 5:39 over Tristen Hitchcock of Army to close out his day.
 
Tanner Culver (Hartland, Mich./Hartland) went 2-1 for the day in the 184D bracket. He got a bye in the first round before pinning Anthony Jacobsen of Sacred Heart at 1:06. He dropped an 8-3 decision to Noah Gibbons of Pitt-Johnstown before closing out the day with a 9-5 decision over Will Small of Pitt-Johnstown.
 
Garber went 2-1 through the 125C bracket. He had a bye in the first round and posted a 12-6 decision over Noah Tonsor of Army in the second. He earned his second win of the day with a 7-4 decision over Eric Howe of F&M before dropping the title match 17-2 to Gary Steen of Penn State.
 
Cade Balestrini (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) went 1-2 with a 12-7 win over Eddie Hummel of Army in the 149A bracket and Caden Dobbins (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) won 12-1 over Nico Bogerdus of Sacred Heart in the 165C bracket. Kevin Riedinger (Hackettstown, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) ended his tournament with a 6-4 decision over Jared Chuqulin of LIU in the 125D bracket.
 
Mason Rebuck (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) finished the day 2-2 with a pin at 3:22 over Tyler Broadway of Pitt-Johnstown and a fall at 1:00 over Matt Walker of Sacred Heart in the 197D bracket.
 
Michael Cassidy (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) earned an 8-0 major decision over Mateo Costello of LIU in the 133D bracket and Tyler McCatharn (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) got a 12-3 major decision over Adrian Sans of Hofstra in the 285C bracket.
 
Morrow went 2-1 on the day with a 16-3 major decision over Faison, his second MD over Faison for the weekend. Morrow picked up his second win of the day with a 12-4 major decision over Zach Karagias of NC State in the 157C bracket.
